Reckless Kelly
Biography
Led by brothers Willy (vocals/guitar) and Cody Braun (vocals/fiddle/mandolin/harmonica), alternative country-rock outfit Reckless Kelly formed in Bend, OR, before relocating to Austin, TX, in January 1997. The Brauns had previously toured with their father in Muzzie Braun & the Boys, a Western swing band, and were joined in their own group by lead guitarist Casey Pollock, bassist Chris Schelske, and drummer Jay Nazz. Reckless Kelly's debut album, Millican, appeared in 1998; Acoustic: Live at Stubb's and Day both followed two years later, after which David Abeyta replaced Pollock on lead guitar. Under the Table and Above the Sun from 2003 began the band's relationship with the high-profile Sugar Hill label and won the hearts of the music press and honky tonkin' legend Joe Ely, who sang the band's praises in interviews. Wicked Twisted Road was released in 2005, and the next year the live album Reckless Kelly Was Here, which featured songs from all of their previous studio records, as well as three covers, and truly captured the band's stage presence, came out. Bulletproof appeared from Yep Roc in 2008. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

1 of my favorite Bands to see live. For the record they support the troops and have done benefit shows to raise money for the wounded warriors project. They just did not agree with the Irag war. Freedom of speech via music, what is wrong with that! We can love a band whose political stances we do not always 100% agree with!

I was "all good" with this band until I heard "American Blood" on the Bullet Proof album, which I am sorry I bought. I used the CD and case as target practice.

I dont think you can classify RK in any genre, they make amazing music, been in the music industry since they were little kids, and they are all down to earth great guys. I suggest checking out the Braun Brothers Music Reunion held in Challis (Idaho) every August. Reckless Kelly, Micky and the motorcars, CCR, and many other amazing red dirt genre's perform there. I guarantee it will be one of the most amazing music/party fests you will ever witness!!!

My favorite group hands down!! Their music and songwriting is the best combination available. I named my border collie after Joli from Crazy Eddie. Catch them live and you can hear even more songs written by Richard Thompson they haven't recorded that they just make sound amazing. Because of RK and all the Braun Family, we TEXANS welcome all from Idaho!! Never gettin' over Joli -Lubbock, TX

Love these hometown boys, grew up listening to Muzzie Braun and the boys, straight out of Clayton Idaho!!! As they have gotten older, they prove how their music talents have gotten better. I can't get enough of Reckless Kelly!!!! Can't wait til another fabulous year of Braun Brothers Reunion in Challis, August 2009!!!

Reckless Kelly is quite simply the best music act live or recorded in music today. They are a fantastic live act, and the new CD is awesome.

Micky & the Motorcars actually features TWO more Braun brothers! BOTH Braun bands are great! Have been following RK for many years, just discovered Micky & the boys about 2 years ago.

the band with something extra, something you cant quite put your finger on.

Great band!! The Brauns are a very talented family. Check out Micky & the Motorcars which is another Braun brother. Saw Micky & the Motorcars open for Cross Canadian Ragweed in Atlanta. Great show, both bands were unbelievable and two of the best live bands I have seen.

Found Reckless Kelly by cueing up a Wilco radio station. Good stuff. Check out Wilco, Steve Earl, and Shooter Jennings for more goodies.
