Red
Biography
Christian-based post-grunge outfit Red first got their start in Pennsylvania playing contemporary Christian covers to area youth groups. They soon grew tired of pop songs, however, and began crafting their own hard-edged rock tunes that often confronted personal issues from their lives. According to lead singer Mike Barnes, the name Red was chosen as a symbol "for the blood of Christ and what it represents: passion, pain, but ultimately, redemption." Comprised of Barnes, Jasen Rauch (guitar), Hayden Lamb (drummer), and identical twins Anthony Armstrong (guitar/vocals) and Randy Armstrong (bass/piano/vocals), the group cited influence from bands like Chevelle, Linkin Park, and Muse. Spearheaded by the single "Breathe into Me," their first nationally distributed album, End of Silence, was released in June 2006 on Essential Records. Always wanting to directly connect with fans through their energetic live show, Red spent the summer touring nationwide, including dates at multiple festivals. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

I absolutely fell in love with this band's sound when I first heard them; They bring Christian music in to the light of secular cynics. God Bless guys! pray your new album brings even more fans.

48 year old washed out drummer wondering when we will see a new release from Red?

I have to say this band surprised me with their ability to write powerful lyrics without sounding emo. Great songs. I'm impressed with their musical talents.

As a 53 yr old female connoisseur of fine music, I find "Red" to be a breath of fresh air in our world. I love head-banging , screaming hard rock, but I also appreciate the tears that this bands' ballads brought to me and my teenage daughters (and friends) eyes. Whoa...they send shivers all over me every time I lisen to them. Wish more people would open their eyes to this type of music. Rock on, Red...

My Favorite band! I love these guys! They're freaken awesome! They need to make another album though. They're holding on after that really bad car crash but they gotta get a new album going!!!
"Let Go" was the first song I heard from them and I completely fell in love-I'm not too keen on Christian music, but their cd can be applied to day to day struggles like "Dee" says. I think they're amazing-lot of good songs on their cd, I hope we hear more in the future!!
I love the lyrics to their music! Their lyrics relate well to the day to day struggles we all face wheather we are Christian or not! I can't wait to see them Live! When are they coming to Dallas??!!
We saw these guys as an opener for 3 Doors Down in SF. We had nver heard of the group before that night. Great on-stage performers, really put on high energy, exciting show. There are some great songs on this album.

Great great great band. Can't wait to see if they'll do another CD. The first time I heard the first 2 tracks from End of Silence... shivers went down my spine and my eyes watered up. These guys know how to sound off desperation for God like no tomorrow.

xXLady_ErisX x ,
just maybe...God is trying to speak to you when you feel the nagging..... . . . |

Great live band - Saw them open for Disciple last year. They do away with most of the orchestral background music on stage, and it works! They rock much harder than on the studio disc. They should release some live music.....

I saw Red last year at Sonshine in Minnesota--t h e y were the best band out of over 100 at the festival. This year many of us were eagerly waiting to hear them again, but they were late, rushed, and didn't get a decent sound check, so their sound was pretty bad. Awesome show, though, even with muddy, unbalanced sound and too soft vocals. They are clearly my favorite band, along with Skillet. FYI--I'm 50 years old and appreciate seriously rocking Godly music. The twins do the best guitar sp

they're actually pretty good... for a christian band... kind of like all that remains, you can't really tell, which is why they're pretty much the only christian bands i listen to, not like that fireflight crap that tries to convert you first listen... i mean if you listen to reds lyrics it becomes more apparent but it's not the annoying nagging type of cristian music you sometimes get. overall, fantastic.

I wish there was more people who wanted to rock this hard for god. And I love that they chose the name red because of the blood of christ and that it represents redemption.
Definitely the most solid and energetic christian band i have ever heard!
