Rick Braun
Biography
A native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, trumpeter Rick Braun first surfaced as a member of the jazz-fusion outfit Auracle, formed while he was a student at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. After two LPs the group disbanded, and Braun turned to songwriting, scoring a hit with REO Speedwagon's "Here with Me; " in time he directed his focus to contemporary jazz, issuing his solo debut Intimate Secrets in 1993. After touring with Sade, he returned in 1994 with Night Walk as well as the seasonal release Christmas Present. With 1995's Beat Street, Braun's popularity continued to snowball, with 1996's smash Body and Soul launching the NAC chart-topper "Notorious." A two-time winner of the Gavin Report's smooth jazz artist of the year award, he returned in 1998 with South of Midnight. He also collaborated with Boney James on the 2000 release Shake It Up. My husband and I attended the Jazz Attack concert featuring Rick, Richard Elliott and Jonathan Butler. Talk about an awesome concert! Everyone in attendance didn't want the show to end!

This cat played in Santa Barbara at a ritzy fundraiser for youths and before the show he was mingling with us regular folks in the garden. Very classy and personable all in one package. Great guy!

Best show ever - Rick Braun opened for Grover Washington, Jr. Most of the people there just wanted to get on to Grover, but by the time Rick was done, they didn't want him to go! Definately one of the most fun jazz artists to listen to and to watch...

I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET RICK BRAUN AND BONEY JAMES AT A JAZZ CONCERT IN MY HOME TOWN OF WILMINGTON, DELAWARE. IT WAS THE HIGH LIGHT OF MY SUMMER. AT ONE POINT I THOUGHT ABOUT NOT GOING TO THE CONCERT, AND THAN I SAID WHY NOT! NEVER THOUGHT IN A MILLION YEARS THAT I WOULD HAVE THE CHANCE TO NOT ONLY TAKE PICTURES WITH THE TWO OF THEM, BUT ALSO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK TO THEM ONE ON ONE. THEY REALLY MADE MY NIGHT. THANKS GUYS!!!!

You just couldn't ask for anything more. Good,smooth, s p i c y , & at times smoky Jazz music. I've been a Rick Braun fan for years even before I knew his name. I recognized his music during constant Radio Air Play. Then knowing he joined Sade for a season, sweetened the deal. I love "Grazin' In the Grass." MMM! That's a nice get you going in the morning with a cup o' Joe good! Jazz & Rick Braun forever!
