Rudy Rotta & Brian Auger
Selected Discography

Captured Live
2006
Hadn't heard of Rudy but Brian Auger was voted best jazz pianist in England in '65', put out two great rock/ jazz fusion albums under Brian Auger and the Trinity Featuring Julie Driscol in later '60's' and later Brian Auger's Oblivion Express.
Sounds like a good match with Rudy. |

I wouldn't say it's quite like trey, almost sounds like he's running through a mesa boogie, which although trey does have that vintage head that you see on stage some times, he primarily runs through two black face deluxe reverbs I think '64's but I can't remember the actual year. Although a bulk if his tone and sustain comes from his compressor and distortion and the guitar itself.

Who are these guys, their music has a sweet groove that is like Jimmy Smith with a nice drummer (a kin to Stanton Moore but Moore's chops are a bit more pronounced.. . ) , also reminds me of Wil Bernard or KDTU. My only compliant is the grooves dont have enough coloration on the chords for the rhythem...bu t the soloing work is tight. Guitarist has a timbre similar to Trey Anastasio, though playing style is not as prodigious as Trey.
