Scar Symmetry
Biography
Sweden's Scar Symmetry was founded in 2004 by vocalist Christian Älvestam, guitarists Jonas Kjellgren and Per Nilsson, bassist Kenneth Seil, and drummer Henrik Ohlsson -- all of them veterans of numerous prior heavy metal bands (Carnal Forge, Centinex, Altered Aeon, Incapacity, etc.) -- whose diverse gamut of styles ultimately influenced the new project's own eclectic sound. Presented to the masses via 2005's Symmetric in Design debut album, Scar Symmetry's material combines death and power metal with progressive flourishes, drawing positive comparisons to bands like Soilwork and Into Eternity, and promising great things yet to come. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide

jesus you gotta be shittin me, these boys are throwin down hard, great sound .have to agree with the comment on the drummer hittin like a straight animal.
Check out guitarists Per Nilsson and Jonas Kjellgren shredding on Riders of the Plague by The Absence. Amazing solos on that album

good stuff, and f**k godsmack, they should all rot in hell.
"stay away" "get back" "stay back" "get away" no wonder you're "alone" |
Wow. Why haven't I heard of them until now? I love the vocals and guitars.
Why would you compare them to Godsmack?
They're completely different, intended for different audiences. Personally, I'm not a huge Godsmack fan, and I really like these guys... They're definitely not like a whole lot of bands I hear a lot, which is cool. |
good band. i like the sound and vocals mixed with screaming. sounds alot like demon hunter or becoming the archetype
unique is a good word for this band, and progressive. Overrated, maybe. But still good. Holographic Universe is their best CD. They do have a sort of, "pop" sound, and I at first thought that the clean vocals didn't mix at all with the music. But you'll get used to it if you have an open mind.
They definetely aren't a bad band if that's what you might be thinking. Just different. |
I haven't heard a lot of their music, but they kind of sound like Into Eternity to me. Sounds pretty good.
This band kicks a**. He has a good growling voice as well as a clean voice. So what the hell is considered pop to cadaver because this isn't even close to what pop music is.
damnit cadaver, someone should cut off your head and f**k you in the spine stump.....ja c k a s s
Love this band, dont care what anyone thinks, oh and cadaver go f**k yourself, you obviously listen to linkin park or limp biscut, please do us all a favor and put a .45 cal slug through your head.
ignore the willow's, all they are, just spam accounts. They hit up EVERY band that is under "similar" artists... copy and paste. Same thing on almost every page. Just report the member. He'll re-register again, but maybe this time pandora will put an IP ban on him.
Waaay too crappy. This really really really sucks. Seriously, what ever happened to innovation? Bands like this destroy the genre in general. Please people, stop supporting bands that recycle generic metal sounds into pop-radio-me t a l ! Anyone who likes this should seriously be ashamed, or is too stupid to decipher real metal from pop. Sorry, but these bands piss me off.
Well for you Willow don't "thank god....smack is here". You obviously and mos def need to lay off the smack or better yet just slam it enough to where u get so badly addicted that you sell off your comp or can't afford to go to the library and use theirs. Thus saving us all from you and your many copied willows (cause your all the same) the pain and you embarassment of your nothingness quips and/or statements which hold no water for anything. Funny or not. Which it's def not. Nuff Said
the contrast between high clean vocals with deep growls is what makes it so good...when Chrstian does it that is. The virtuosity of the instrumental part makes it even more layered...al l and all, together it makes a great, unique sound
That was an awful attack Vash... Bad form! The high notes is what turns this song from a kick arse metal song, to a epic badass, metal machine, mayhem produceing, orgasim induceing, mega overpowered, death metal song.
Starts out good, then crashes when the high notes are sung. Not ok.
they did lose christian and the two guys they got to replace him arent nearly as good
i love these guys!
i think they lost Christian tho. so idk if they'll be as good anymore. |
anybody know if they're going to release another album this year?
Yeah I dont know where i've been i just now in the last week had never heard of Scar Symmetry. They are amazing
Yea ok sounds good but the contrast in the vocals are too broad and don't mesh well in my opinion but you might go monkey Siht
Listening to "Hybrid Cult" right now.. not a big fan of screaming/gr o w l y vocals. But the guitar and everything else is great.
I agree with Aaron Dennis, Pitch Black Progress should definitely be listed here. This band is in my top favorites.
They are aight. I'm not a large fan of clean vocals but the instrumental s are nice.
Better than Soilwork and In Flames, it's like what both bands wish they could be! Scar Symmetry is simply AMAZING. This is by far my favorite band! This is my opinion though, not saying any of this is true for other people.
They're like a cool proggyish band. I dig it. Kind of like In Flames but better.
Sadly to say, Scar Symmetry have parted ways with their vocalist. I don't think they'll ever be the same. Hopefully, they can work something out.
