Scars On Broadway
Biography
The Daron Malakian led rock and metal project formed by the System of A Down guitarist after that band decided to take an extended break following their Mezmerize and Hypnotize releases, Scars On Broadway came to life in late 2005/early 2006. While some demos appeared (a 2003 collection labeled "Ghetto Blaster Rehearsals") that were credited to Scars, Malakian disavowed the link to the current project and the one on the tape. That disbanded project, which featured Shavo Odadjian and Casey Chaos was in no way -- according to Malakian -- connected to what he was working on in the studio as of 2007. With System drummer John Dolmayan as a collaborator, Scars On Broadway began recording tracks, and in March of 2008 posted their first track online, the alt metal selection, "They Say." With live dates in the offing for Malakian and Dolmayan, line up additions were needed. Coming on board were Franky Perez (guitar and vocals), Dominic Cifarelli (bass), and Danny Shamoun (keyboards and percussion). The band played its first gig in April of 2008, at the Whisky a Go-Go, and later that month played the Coachella Festival. The group's debut album, Scars on Broadway was then announced for a May of 2008 release. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide

I really gave it the ol' "college try" with Scars, but I just can't get into a band that makes my ears bleed.

scars sucks... everyone should know that Serj is the best his views make him awsome ;)

Malakian co-wrote the songs for SOAD with Serj & what's that got to do with the price of tea in China? Not being a fan of Scars on Broadway does not mean I think SOAD is horrible. I just think Malakian should NOT be allowed to sing ever again & all the SOAD guys sounded better as SOAD. However, I do think that Serj is holding his own as far as his solo career goes.
scars is no soad his voice hurts ears that why early soad is better less malkain and he did not write as much as you made to believe. thats why serjs solo is closer to early soad than scars. and it was no failure and he did the whole thing himself in the studio so give the man props alone for his talent in multiple instruments and song writing.
Little Miss Spookiness I hope that you know that Malakian is the one who wrote the songs for both bands. So that's basically you saying that SOAD is a horrible band. And you think you're the metal critic. =)
If anyone killed SOAD's chances of getting back together, it's these yahoos, not Serj. Malakian's horrible voice aside, these guys just don't have the tightness or melody that SOAD & many other bands have.

im not liking malakian's voice. its not good. someone...ma k e him stop.
i actually think that serj did some good work solo. its not as good as SOAD, but its still pretty aweomse. this however...fa i l . |
Sorry but SOAD wont come back
Serj killed it by going off and trying to feed of the band's success with his failed solo career. If they're gonna get back together they better hurry up because scars is going to delever the killing blow to any hopes of SOAD getting aback together |

Malakian needs to never sing lead again, his voice just isn't... good. The guitar performance is excellent, as well as the interesting beats and melodies, but the overall composition is poor. Lyricism is not so hot either, rhyming "cry" with "die" at least twice in the album, as well as saying "f**k the world" more than once on more than one song, which is too many times. Overall, first album is a passable album, but not one I would have bought had I known. I hope Malakian can step it up and pr

SOAD WILL RETURN. SCARS IS AWESOME AS WELL AS SERJ. No matter how many times I say it, no one understands. System is on a hiatus, or extended break, kind of like Creed. They will be back eventually. Can't wait. But Scars will sufice until then.

Malakian is an amazing song writer. This album is alot of fun, especially if compared to Serj's - Empty Walls. Serj's lyrics are alot more intricate and often more deep and serious. Malakian's lyrics are alot simpler, but fun. This album is very well produced and very easy to listen to all the way through. The one thing that surprised me about the album; the drumming is ordinary.

Scars in awesome. System is my favorite band ever, but i can certainly live with Scars and Serj's freaking amazing solo album. System is on a hiatus and should be together by the end of this year or some time next year. But that's just a rumor i've heard, certainly hope its true. Nothing can top SOAD
