Secondhand Serenade
Biography
Much like Five for Fighting or Dashboard Confessional both musically and in theory, Secondhand Serenade is a project name for a solo artist, singer/songwriter John Vesely. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in a musical family that included his professional jazz musician father, Vesely spent a number of dues-paying years in a variety of local bands before switching from bass to acoustic guitar and beginning to write his own songs. (In his official artist bio, Vesely claims that the inspiration for the band name Secondhand Serenade is the fact that all of his autobiographical songs are directed first and foremost to his wife, thereby making the audience mere bystanders to their pas de deux; he seems not to notice that some potential listeners might find this attitude a bit condescending.) Vesely recorded his debut album, Awake, in 2005, originally self-releasing the disc and selling it through his MySpace page and iTunes. Online buzz led to a deal with Glassnote Records, a pseudo-indie funded and distributed by the Warner Bros. offshoot The Independent Label Group. Glassnote released an expanded version of Awake in February 2007. ~ Stewart Mason, All Music Guide

wow. i love this person (amazingly NOT a band. wow!!!!), but no one i kno ever knows about him. isn't that sad?
Original and new. I think he should be named top male artist of this century.
This guy's voice and lyrics are amazing! And he is a solo artist not in a band! That's all him!
They're songs are always so cute and they never cuss or anything!! And most of them are didcated to his wife. So sweet! Luv them!!
dashboard now has more mature, less angsty lyrics, and Chris Carabba is forever my hero, but this guy is full of genuine pathos....it ' s incredible
i guess they sound a little like dashboard, but i think that secondhand serenade has way better lyrics. I absolutely love this band. Top Five!
So, I do like this, but I have to say... Did anyone read the biography? LOL, its a solo guy! Not a band!

This is amazing. I heard one song and was hooked. Absolutely phenomenal!! ! !
THis music is really deep and good. The lyrics are gorgeous and the music is catchy.
Every song so far that I've heard that this band has done sounds absolutely gorgeous. This kind of music where there's just an acoustic guitar and soft pure vocals is my favorite...
this band is INCREDIBLY talented and we dont have enough bands like this anymore.
new album "A Twist in My Story"...a couple remakes of old songs that sound very similar to the way Dashboard tried to go the stadium anthem route in their album "Dusk and Summer". If you listen to the version of "Maybe" on the "A Twist in My Story" album, you'll know what I'm talking about. He should have just stuck with what he was good at: acoustic + multi-track recording... d o n ' t try and jump into the pop/stadium anthem scene with everyone else
wow. I got out of the boy band stage a while ago. but I heard this band and I really enjoy their music. wow. I think I cried when I heard the song Vulnerable. ...wow.
i love the love influences.. . if that makes any sence at all. but love the acoustic and the lrics.
I like Dashboard a lot and I like their sound and find this pretty similar. I just started listening to them, but I like what I hear.
I do like them, but feel like I have heard every song before...(Da s h b o a r d Con's)
