Sevendust
Biography
The Atlanta-based quintet Sevendust became one of the rising acts in late-'90s heavy metal with an aggressive blend of bottom-heavy riffs and soulful, accessible melodies. The band, comprised of frontman Lajon Witherspoon, John Connolly (guitar), Clint Lowery (guitar), Vince Hornsby (bass), and Morgan Rose (drums), first appeared in 1995 as Crawlspace, releasing the single "My Ruin" on the Mortal Kombat: More Kombat recording. Shortly thereafter, the group changed its name to Sevendust and released a self-titled debut in 1997. Two years later, the bandmates issued the gold-selling Home and played over 800 shows alongside such groups as Creed, along with a stop at Woodstock '99. Their angst-ridden third album, the aptly titled Animosity, appeared in fall 2001, and Seasons followed in 2003.
In late December 2004, word surfaced that Lowery had left the band, and those rumors proved true the following February when Sevendust announced ex-Snot guitarist Sonny Mayo as Lowery's replacement. (Lowery, a co-founder of Sevendust, eventually surfaced in the hard rock supergroup Dark New Day.) Next, Sevendust's fifth album and their first self-produced effort, appeared in October 2005. The record failed to sell as much as its predecessors, but Sevendust nevertheless signed to Asylum Records and issued Alpha in March 2007. Alpha fared better than Next, climbing to number 14 on the Billboard charts and paving the way for the band's seventh effort. Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow arrived in April 2008, featuring an appearance by former American Idol star Chris Daughtry. ~ Kirk Dombek, All Music Guide

Strong band...just missing something... M o o m o o 0 0 7 , s h h h . . . t h e stupidity from your comment is deafening! Try and keep it down over there. Some of us are trying to be articulate.

disease is definetly one of the best. I watched them in concert 3 times and they neverr let me down each time was better then the other. keep it rollin guys
sevendust and all of the guys who make it up are great. (: great live shows, never disappointin g albums, instrumental nu-metal talent, and good lyrics.
I saw these guys a couple of times and they never disappoint. They play with alot of emotion and leave it all out there no matter what the venue. I prefer bands at smaller venues, it seems to be more of a personal experience. I saw them in a bar in Iowa too ( not making that up) back in 2000!!
I cant wait to see these guys again. I saw them 3 times within one year, and loved every show. They'll be even better with Clint back in the band!
and yes Morgan is the sickest drummer out there. My boyfriend is a drummer and made that same comment last night after the show and he's not one for rock concerts.
I just saw these guys last night at a bar in Cedar Rapids, IA and man did they rock, it was flippin awesome. Best small venue show I've been to in a long time. Sevedust really rock the place to the ground. Can't wait to see them again.

Sevendust is anything but lame and Lajon is one of the few guys in Rock with a unique voice that actually delivers each and every note every show. Hands down one of the best bands to come out of the 90's and with the return of Lowery I expect their next album to unbelievable . I didn't mention that Morgan is one of the sickest drummers around.
I saw them live with Black Label Society this last March, I'm hooked! lol
rip, I guess you didn't hear about five months ago when Lowery annonced that he was rejoining Sevendust. I believe their next album will be unbelievable with Clint and Lajon back writing together, should be great maybe another 'Animosity'. I love Sevendust and have seen them live alot of times my personal favorite time was back in 'o7 with Buckcherry. If I had to rank their records I guess todays version would be something like this. 1.Animosity 2.Alpha 3.Home 4.Sevendust 5.seasons 6.s&p 7.Next
Probably their greatest album would be HOME followed by Animosity,Se a s o n s and closing Alpha. I saw them at House of Blues S.D.Ca. and at Cox Area (w/Creed) outstanding group. I will miss Lowery and his direction of writing their music. He will be missed! Carry on Sevendust! LETS GET BACK TO THE BASIC'S LIKE 'HOME' WHAT A GREAT ALBUM.

Caught these guys in Chattanooga a couple of years ago at a small club. Great show. They got a really good energy going. Drummer was literally climbing the ceiling!
I seen sevendust in concert I herd of them before seeing them in live they surprised how awesome they were keep on rocking
why does pandora not know or recoginize that song "Inside" by these guys???
Just found out that the album came out in april of 08 so why in the heck is it not on here??? Im dissapointed Chapter VII |
I'd have to say their debut album is my favorite, with what is undoubtedly their best song opening the album up. Listen to Black, and I think you'll get a good idea of Sevendust's overall groove.
I liked them in Animosity. Afterwards, they sounded generic and boring. I hope they get their balls back and show the "nowaday" bands what metal is about.
Stop playing this craptastic music! Pandora needs the "never play this pathetic excuse for a band again" button. It gets tiring thumbing down every song from the same band! Take notice, Pandora!
Man i love this band, everybody at my school is a country fan, its like i live in hicktown USA.. and they all can't stand Sevendust.. i've always loved them
Went to see sevendust in concert they kicked a** there show had a ton of energy,Great band to see live go see them there on tour with Black lable society and Dope
SEVENDUST IS GREAT!!! Yea, it may be only my opinion, but I go to see them every chance I get, including March 31 in Michigan. I listen to them ALL the time. Their concerts are bad to the bone(yea my neck hurts from rocking so hard..lol)
I wish Hope & Sorrow was listed above. The are one of my all time favorites and will remain that way!!!!!!!! |
This band was never good. Listen to Orange 9mm if ya wanna hear a great band with a black leads singer. Chaka Malik is a freaking enigma on the mic with his vocals!
This band kills live! One of the most underated bands ever. Sevendust 4 life!!
Sevendust... . . . o n e of the best bands, iv'e seen in concert....a n d i've seen a buttload of concerts....
azraelsfall; How can you say they sound like Metallica??? Metallica is a group of sell-outs. It seems like every time they hear the public says they want the old Metallica, They come up with songs that are just a cheap knock-off. If you go buy 7-Dust's first album (self titled), they'll show you who the REAL metal-heads are.
How many people on here know that Clint is back with 7-Dust???? Sorry to say sundance, but sevendust is NOTHING without Clint. He's not on chapter 7. The sad part is that when I saw them live last time, Clint played the new songs (next through hope & sorrow) better than Sonny ever could. They seemed to have more power and energy than the C.D. I may be the only one, but I say that makes Sonny look bad.
Their pretty good. I hadn't heard of them before they popped up on one of my stations. Sometimes they sound like Metallica, sometimes like Papa Roach. It's kinda cool.
