Sevendust
Biography
The Atlanta-based quintet Sevendust became one of the rising acts in late-'90s heavy metal with an aggressive blend of bottom-heavy riffs and soulful, accessible melodies. The band, comprised of frontman Lajon Witherspoon, John Connolly (guitar), Clint Lowery (guitar), Vince Hornsby (bass), and Morgan Rose (drums), first appeared in 1995 as Crawlspace, releasing the single "My Ruin" on the Mortal Kombat: More Kombat recording. Shortly thereafter, the group changed its name to Sevendust and released a self-titled debut in 1997. Two years later, the bandmates issued the gold-selling Home and played over 800 shows alongside such groups as Creed, along with a stop at Woodstock '99. Their angst-ridden third album, the aptly titled Animosity, appeared in fall 2001, and Seasons followed in 2003.
In late December 2004, word surfaced that Lowery had left the band, and those rumors proved true the following February when Sevendust announced ex-Snot guitarist Sonny Mayo as Lowery's replacement. (Lowery, a co-founder of Sevendust, eventually surfaced in the hard rock supergroup Dark New Day.) Next, Sevendust's fifth album and their first self-produced effort, appeared in October 2005. The record failed to sell as much as its predecessors, but Sevendust nevertheless signed to Asylum Records and issued Alpha in March 2007. Alpha fared better than Next, climbing to number 14 on the Billboard charts and paving the way for the band's seventh effort. Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow arrived in April 2008, featuring an appearance by former American Idol star Chris Daughtry. ~ Kirk Dombek, All Music Guide

ok anyone who thinks this band sucks or look stupid or anything bad bout them can go f**k off sevendust is one of ok thy best rock band out there right now i mean yea theres lots of other great bands but none as solid and different as this one i have yet to hear a sevendust song that is not great keep on rocking guys ignore any bullsh!t that some of these people say and christopher bride is completely right
Faith to say something like that is so rediculous and makes you look moronic Lajon is a great guy and an awesome rock singer, get a clue.
Sevendust is still one of the most underrated bands around, although their latest album fell a little flat to me but 'Alpha' was so great it was a horror to try to follow up. Can't wait until they hit the studio next now that Clints back in the band it will be a classic album, count on it.

waaaaaaaaaaa a a a t ? Lejon is better than most metal singers out there at the moment. I love this band because it told those coffee sipping Seattle wusses to shut the f**k up, we've had enough of their whining.
black guys don't make the best metal singers... i'm sorry, but black guys should stick to rap. :P

Sevendust, a deeply drop tuned band, will provide you with a combination of kick you in the face metal, with songs such as "Home" or "Face to Face," and moving meledies with songs such as "Angel's Son" or, more recently, "The Past." Frontman Lajon has the ability to scream and growl it out, but at the same time brings a taste of R&B to the metal scene. Drummer Morgan Rose, is one of the best at what he does. Look him up on youtube.com if you get a chance. I think he's comparable to Danny Carey.

Yeechh. Just have metal or just have singing. If you mix, it is like mixing... nvm. But crossovers stink.
i could make love to his voice! *muah* oh, and this is good beach music too!
Sevendust has never got the "mainstream" recognition they deserve but their combonation of metal and melody is some of the best in the biz. Keep rockin' 7D!
I have to say Lajon def has a distinct voice, and a very good one at that. I don't think it matters if they are labeled 'Nu Metal' or whatever. It's all based on talent, and real music fans will recognize that and not judge a band by its labeled genre.
They kick A** live and they have a solid discography and it keeps getting better
they don't get the recognition they deserve because all the media cares about is "popular" culture. which just so happens to be that rap and hip hop $h!t
they are f-ing amazing and have an amazing discography |
Very, very good band. One of my personal favorites. it's unfortunate that they get lumped in with the lackluster genre that is "new metal," and I believe that is the primary reason they don't get the recongnition they deserve. But as long as they continue to crank out albums, and do what they do best, which is kick much a$$ live, I don't give a flying f#$k what the general public thinks...
Not sure what these guys are missing but the hit hard live and Lajon Witherspoon is a great singer/front m a n .
For as long as they've been around it pisses me off they really haven't gotten the recognition they f-ing deserve

http://www.u l t i m a t e - g u i t a r . c o m has tabs and if you search under the 's's you will find some Sevendust tabs

I hadn't heard them much before i saw them live a few months back. What an incredible show, they rock.
I love this band so f'ing much. THese guys rocks so hard and the singer has an incredible voice. I was not a fan of these guys when i first heard them on the radio in high school...unt i l I saw them live. I saw them by accident and the show was one of the best I've seen by most bands, and I've seen my share of rock shows. I have seen them 3 times and each time is better. They are definitely not a disappointme n t .
Lajon has one of the best voices in the industry. Sevendust is one of the best anger management groups. mulletmom73

Pre-"Crawlsp a c e " -- we're talkin' 1992-1993, they were known around Atlanta as "Rumble Fish" and they were KILLER!!! Lajon and Ron in a convertible Z28 -- DEADLY!! :-)
