Shpongle
Biography
Simon Posford and Raja Ram are Shpongle, an ambient techno/trance project formed in 1996 after the pair viewed a solar eclipse in India. The two went into the studio and attempted to duplicate the experience in sonic form, and the result was a 20-minute track, "...And the Day Turned to Night," which was featured on a Twisted label compilation titled Eclipse. Shpongle's full-length debut album, Are You Shpongled?, was released in early 1999. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

True tribal ambience, in that this soundtrack merges with the sounds of nature, becoming one with the sounds of life. That is to be Shpongled, so have I been Shpongled.

I THINK PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD SHOULD TAKE INFECTED MUSHROOMS... . I N T E R C O N T I N E N T A L ABSURDITIES. . A DIVISION OF UNITED MUTATIONS.

Simon Posford is a magician. A modern-day Mozart! Of course, this was not his only project (I'm saddened that Pandora doesn't say as much), so there is much more of his music to enjoy... though I think Shpongle was clearly his best. Next place to stop, however, would be "Flock of Bleeps" by Younger Brother (which is Posford). Infected Mushroom is good, but harder and simpler (NOT Posford). Lately, I've been enjoying the Goasia Project (also not Posford), which is *almost* as good, in places.

People should give Infected mushroom a listen. Somewhat different characters, but of the same caliber of awesomeness.

This is great. Hard to believe that it was made in 1999. Way ahead of its time. Goes to prove that music is timeless. Great rythms and sound

TRUE talent, Shpongle is an example of psychedelic music at it's best
What about Nothing lasts but Nothing is lost? The BEST album! |

Headline act at an Oakland underground party in '99; best mind-blower I ever peaked with.
|
||
Does anyone know when their new album is going to come out? I heard it was supposed to be soon. I'm growing very anxious about it.
|
||
Unparalleled sonic mastery; a beautifully woven auditory experience is crafted with each new track. It doesn't get any better than Shpongle
