Splashdown
Selected Discography
I saw splashdown live, it must have been at least 10 years ago.. they were incredible!

Their largest following was probably created by WBER, Rochester NY's Non-profit alternative radio station. They played Mayan Pilot, Iron Spy and Charming Spell.

They actually had one song that gave them a small following. It was called Charming Spell and it aired on the show "Charmed". They also had another song that was on an album for a movie, it is called "Karma Slave". Although no one knows lots of their most incredible music, they seem to incorporate dance, jazz, spanish guitar, new wave and host of other sounds that give thma a unique quality. Mellisa Kaplin's newer project, UHP (Universal Hall Pass) is great and has some great downloads.

Wow, I wanted to leave some praise but Caspian Lazaro already said it all so well. Thanks!
Oh yeah, check out Melissa in her new incarnation, Universal Hall Pass. You will not be dissapointed . |

Splashdown is the greatest band no one has ever heard of. My discovery of their immortal "Blueshift" was a revelation and a puzzle: how could an album so incredible not be famous? Nearly a decade later, their regrettably tiny catalogue has lost none of its luster. Melissa Kaplan's voice is one of the most extraordinar y I've ever heard, nearly unreal in its range, effortless elasticity and sexy intelligence (or is it intelligent sexiness?). Holy wow. Find and listen.

Splashdown produced two other full length albums, entitled "Blueshift" and "Stars & Garters." Interestingl y enough, one song is named "Pandora."
