Stone Sour
Biography
Although Slipknot made their mainstream debut in the late '90s, singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root got their start a few years before in Stone Sour. Described as a cross between Metallica and Alice in Chains, the group was put aside when the two men joined Slipknot. In the spring of 2002, Root and Taylor got in contact with original guitarist Josh Rand and bassist Sean Economaki and re-formed Stone Sour to record their first album. The self-titled debut gained two Grammy nominations and was RIAA-certified gold. Drafting in drummer Joel Ekman, the band released a song for the Spider-Man soundtrack ("Bother," credited only to Taylor) while recording the album in Los Angeles. After four years, Stone Sour returned to the studio to record Come What(ever) May, produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver) and released in August 2006. The album hit number four on the Billboard charts, driven by the success of the single "Through Glass." The band hit the road the same year on the Family Values tour with high-profile headliners Deftones and Korn. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide

im hafta go with u austrng familly. i like slipknot a lot but stonesour is better, i feel that they have more meaning to their songs. i also like to actually be able to understand what they are saying. i guess that goes hand in hand. the good shepherd. chill bro. (yah i know i spelled ur name wrong, so cuss me out)=)
I prefer Stone Sour over Slipknot due to the fact that Stone Sour seems to actually sing alot more instead of just screaming into the mic. Bother has to be my favorite song by them.
No offence to Slipknot fans, but I don't like to be in pain becuase of "music". |
You can tell that the rest of the band was holding them down and Slipknot f**king rocks so much harder! F**king good s**t overall though! Not for poser f**ks so step the f**k back pansies!
they are pretty good but slipknot is still better (both are really kick a** bands though)

I think it's cool that Corey does Stoned Sour & Slipknot--ta l k about being flexible!
no idea , i think and hope that they both keep with stone sour
both stone sour and slipknot are great slip knot is hard stuff that u just get lost in the pounding music while stonesour has a little more meaning . personally stone sour is better though
The one song of theirs I've heard so far was almost precisely the sound I find enjoyable - but there was some unquantifiab l e element that grated. Maybe song #2 will change my mind.
i dont give a f**k what anyone says. Taylor and Root are both great artists in either band.
Joel Ekman hasnt been with the band for a few years now. His son had cancer, and ended up dying. Sad deal really. I know Joel. He is a hell of a guy, fun to party with, and has a new band. I hope this new band the best.
both are sweet bands. stone sour is ment to be a more creative outlet for taylor, thats why stone sour isnt as hard as slipknot. both bands are great.

Slipknot has changed because of stonesour corey and jim have both grown up and changed their music with time and as a result we have a new thrashy pure metal fury slipknot f**k yeah
Hell and consequences is a staple of what metal truly is.I don't call it rock.Corey has the attitude to do what he does best.I don't understand why the bio doesn't list Roy Mayorga for their last ablbum. The man is a freakin' drum wizard!
Nice suggestion staticaddict , but I felt that the second album was better!
i suggest the self titled (Stone Sour)...Cold Reader, Bother, and Get Inside are amazing songs
