Switch (R&B)
Biography
Another Ohio funk band, they began as First Class in 1975. Jermaine Jackson discovered the group that included lead vocalist Phillip Ingram and Bobby DeBarge, Greg Williams, Tommy DeBarge, Eddie Fluellan, and Jody Sims. They had a huge hit in 1978 with "There'll Never Be," a Top Ten R&B single. They also had two others during their tenure on Gordy, "I Call Your Name" in 1979 and "Love Over and Over Again" in 1980. Phillip Ingram went on his own in 1980, and Bobby and Tommy also departed to join the family group DeBarge. Percussionist/vocalist Renard Gallo and Gonzales Ozen and keyboardist Attala Zane Giles were their replacements. They left Gordy for Total Experience in 1984, cutting the LP Am I Still Your Boyfriend? ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
Selected Discography
SWITCH was a groupr that had the hit songs, "There Never Be" and " I Call Your Name", that would send all the ladies to the florr to dance on a slow song ....The DJ's extended versions or 12" made teh slow dance even longer. It was always a time to fnd that certain girl you were sweet on and sing to her while dancing LOL!!

I was the biggest Switch fan ever. So much to the fact I met Eddie Fluellen (I hope I spelled his name right.) in 1997. He was totally blowed away that I knew who he was. And I proved to him how serious of a fan I was by singing a lesser none Switch track. I also got to meet El Debarge and we talked about his brother Bobby and how as a singer and producer he inspired us so. I know their family has had alot of unfortunate events from Bobby's death to undeclosed love child. Real fans know wha

I watched the behind the seens story on Swtich and Debarge. As talented as the Debarge family was or are, they had a lot of issues. From the drugs to their father beating until he got tired. There is a new generation of Debarge's starting to sing and some are working with Baby Face.

of course i knew about switch before their siblings' group, debarge (RIP tommy debarge). switch was cool too-- love me over and over is my favorite. i have to stop whatever i'm doing when i hear that song and sing along. that's required!

This group was amazing...th e tragedy of the DeBarge brothers.... t h e y could have soared - this song was proof of that!

Alot of people don't even know that some of the members of switch are part of the debarge family. They sound so much alike. And the music is very sexy and suttle

I have always loved this song and "I Call Your Name",but thought it was a track by the group Debarge. Now I know why, because there are Debarge siblings in the band. I love their voices and this song; its' just good music. I wish there were more songs out today like these.
