What an amazing artist. I did not know his work prior to hearing it on Pandora. I'll be recommending the name from here on out!
So far I've heard two songs by Takenobu and I've loved them both. So glad Pandora introduces me to new artists like this!
I am so greatful to b introduced to Takenobu by Pandora. I think incubus is much darker. This is more of a beautiful medatative melody kind of feeling.
FInding music like this is why I really like Pandora. I'm not sure how long I couldlisten to this music at a time, but it really is a nice change. To mention a different "reminds me of" it brings Mark-Almond Band to my mind . (That's Mark-Almond Band NOT Almond Brothers or Mark Almond).
Very unique. I like how it is new age, but also with rock influences. It seems like the Beatles, Apocalyptica , and Ryuchi Sakomoto. Cool!

(Eh, a bit annoying. I can't post much at a time. Here's the rest...)
hile drummer Geoff Lewit provides a human backbeat (and humorous between-song commentary). The cello sounds great, but it's the rich, multi-ranged vocals that carry them over the top. You really have to hear them to even remotely understand what they can do. |

(last comment didn't all post, here's more...)
f songwriter/c e l l i s t Nick Ogawa and the talented Geoff Lewit on drums. Their original songs travel through blues, folk, and pop styles on the way to Takénobu's distinctivel y contemporary sound. Cellist/Song w r i t e r Nick Ogawa is a genuine talent who can clearly hold his own as a solo performer, but his heart lies in the complex, orchestral arrangements that Sufjan Stevens is so fond of. Armed with a loop pedal, Ogawa constructs gorgeous soundscapes, w |

From www.waterfro n t m u s e u m . o r g :
"Takenobu is a vocal/cello and drums combo. The meaning of the Japanese name aptly suits the bold new spirit of the music they create. The essence of Takénobu is “strong heart and healthy spirit,” which comes alive in the emotional force of the vocal/cello timbre and the energy of the percussive rhythm. They are like nothing you've ever heard. Their style has been compared to everything from Lou Reed to Nick Drake. Takénobu features the rich, multi-ranged vocals o |

Yeah, I think it is probably the stage/band name. Never thought of that. Great music anyway. Have a good day everyone.
Maybe Takenobu is Nick Ogawa's stage name/ project name? Pandora, we need a bio please.
I think this might be labeled wrong. The Album title is Takenobu, but the artist is Nick Ogawa, not the video game composer. His myspace music page: http://www.m y s p a c e . c o m / t a k e n o b u . Also listed under Ogawa for http://cdbab y . c o m / c d / t a k e n o b u . Lastly him playing Shady Grove: http://www.y o u t u b e . c o m / w a t c h ? v = t F 5 l 8 Y J V g 1 A . Thanks.

Complexity is a good word to describe this. Great work on my semi-instrum e n t a l station.

I hope that he gets more attention. This is the type of the music that should be played on the radio.

The music of Takenobu is insperationa l , astounding, and Mind altering. It lets your mind wander to a new place it has never been. great music
I like it. Reminds me of radiohead in a subtle way. Wish I could find the cd.
whoa... not to join the crowd but I'm surprised i've never heard of him
As I listened to this artist for the first time, my astonishment grew with each passing measure! Takénobu is one of the most refreshing combinations of musical styles I have heard in a long time. He seamlessly bends and weaves through the particular manner with which his voice and the string instrumental s blend. Why I've never heard of him until now is certainly a mystery! He's fantastic!
