Tamar
Biography
The youngest of the Braxton sisters, singer Tamar Braxton has a solid background in R&B, gospel ,and pop thanks to her heritage: her father is a Methodist minister; her mother an amateur opera singer; and her eldest sister, Toni, needs no introduction. As with the rest of her singing siblings, Tamar grew up surrounded by music at home and at church. Along with her sisters Trina and Towanda, Tamar performed in the Braxtons and released the 1996 debut album So Many Ways; a tour as Toni's backup singers also raised the group's prominence. In 1999, Tamar explored both the gospel and pop sides of her sound, appearing on T.D. Jakes' Sacred Love Songs before releasing her solo debut, Ridiculous, on DreamWorks the following spring. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
