Theatre Of Tragedy
Biography
Formed out of Norway's famed black metal scene, Theatre of Tragedy combine elements of goth and metal with an added touch of drama thanks in part to the dual vocals of Raymond I. Rohonyi and Liv Kristine Espenaes. With the accompaniment of Frank Claussen (guitars), Tommy Olsson (guitars/programming), Eirik T. Saltroe (bass), Hein Frode Hansen (drums) and Lorentz Aspen (synthesizer), Theatre of Tragedy orchestrates a different performance piece with each song, while the singers bounce dialogues off of each other and even at times portray different characters. With their 1995 self-titled debut on Massacre, Theatre of Tragedy won over Century Media Records, who began licensing their albums for U.S. distribution. Velvet Darkness They Fear appeared in 1996, and the more electronic-flavored follow-up Aegis was released in 1998; both albums helped substantially expand the group's following among both goth and metal audiences. Before Musique was issued in 2000, the band parted ways with both Olsson and Saltroe. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide

Una de las mejores bandas escandinavas y del mundo en doom-goth metal, lastima que cambio su estilo, no esta mal, pero era mejor en sus primeros tiempos.

That is a really, really, weird movie, but it is good. It's just not what you think it's going to be.
Yes, they are. Nice name, cl0ckw0rk0ra n g e ! I need to watch that movie, sometime. I've heard it's weird, but weird in a good way.
never heard of this band but I'm enjoying the song that's playing on my Lacuna Coil station
that is the worst rip-off of me i have ever read. -_-
FAILED. |
Their song "Begin and End" sounds a bit like The Birthday Massacre imho......re a l l y good!!
What I've heard from Theatre of Tragedy has been good. Edenbridge is rather interesting (or the songs I've heard have been anyway) - I can't always identify a song by other similar groups without checking to see what's playing, but I've never had that problem with them.
Not that it's really a problem. |
I like old Tristania and At Sixes And Sevens by Sirenia. Both bands have kinda lost their fire in the past few years though.
WOW... I had no idea that Theatre of Tragedy was not like Godsmack... *rolls eyes*
If they are lame why do you like them lol but edenbridge is very flowery I agree
Sirenia and Kypteria (sp?) are good Leaves' Eyes is good once in a while as well. Edenbridge is a bit bland, or at least the songs I've heard.
On that note I kinda like Sirenia a little as well but what do I know :)
Really Plague I kinda like Xandria and kypteria aint half bad either but of course I also like Edenbridge and leaves eyes as well as some of the "softer" goth metal
he's gone for now (thank God!). enjoy the peace while we still have it.
Lullacry? what is that, Plague? |
I dunno what's worse...
getting bored with Theatre of Tragedy or trying to like Xandria. |
yeah... after a while, I'm thinking TofT is kinda boring.
ah, Scandinavia. . . why wasn't I born there?
geez, this Willow BS is getting old...
Hey Widget Willow, no one likes you so shut the f**k up. You try to be cool by hating on all the bands you can instead of just enjoying the music you like.
That being said I love Theatre of Tragedy, it's great music for nights and dates. |
Hmm, that's what you said about Nightwish. Your creativity is even more lacking than your musical taste and communicatio n skills. Nightwish and TofT have completely different musical styles.
I'm really starting to warm up to the new singer. She's no Liv, but she has a really soothing voice.
And as for good riffs and sweet vocals, you can't go wrong with Nightwish. |
yeah, I miss LC's old sound. I give them credit for the vocalists, they flow better with the music pretty well... some gothic metal bands have only one singer (often female) and they sound too un-unique... at least LC spiced it up more...
but I prefer their older stuff anyway. :/ I don't hear much of Theatre of Tragedy... or I have, but just couldn't recognize it... |
the only ones I keep my ears open for are Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Epica, and Sirenia. Theatre of Tragedy and Leaves' Eyes sorta of... everything else confuses the hell out of me. it's hard to find music that has everything good: vocals, keys, guitars, and percussion. gothic metal has the vocals and keys nailed. everything else is "bland" as you well put it. Lacuna Coil does that ok, IMO. not too much recently though...
true... Xandria is one band I tried to listen to... but... no go.
most gothic metal bands sound so like, I can't tell most of them apart... :/ |
