Thunderstone
Biography
Finland's Thunderstone perform in a melodic speed metal style -- generally lumped into the power metal category -- that is quite popular across continental Europe. Originally formed simply for kicks in the year 2000 by guitarist Nino Laurenne, the band grew into a serious endeavor the following year with the arrival of singer Pasi Rantanen, keyboardist Kari Tornack, bassist Titus Hjelm, and drummer Mirka Rantanen. Soon armed with two promising demos, Thunderstone was courted and signed by Nuclear Blast, which issued the band's eponymous debut in June 2002. Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki made a guest appearance on it, and later invited them to support his band, as well as America's Symphony X, on their European trek, after which Thunderstone reconvened in Helsinki to record their sophomore effort, The Burning, released in early 2004. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide

Trivium is some of the best metal I've head. But if you don't like screaming then don't bother.

Manowar is from New York... Iced Earth is from Indiana (Not Florida). Hell what about Slayer, Testament, Overkill, Suicidal Tendencies (granted they haven't put out a good one in years),Megad e t h , A n t h r a x . . etc.. the list can go on.. but yea we listen to way to much Rap and Country overhere. If we would mainstream these bands over here it would be alot better. But That is what what you get for a country full of Hics and Blacks.

Oh by the way, you all are idiots for saying America makes terrible music. Music wouldn't have evolved quite the way it has if it wasn't for the states and all their contribution . Don't get me wrong, our government can go suck a dick. But, our music can at least be one thing we can say we've made decent.

Mastodon, Baroness, High on Fire, Isis, Symphony X, Suspyre, Abigael Williams are all very decent american bands. But I do agree on the point that Europe far transcends america when it comes to talented musicianship .

Agreed. Also, don't forget that Iced Earth is from Florida and LOG still rules.
Anyhow, Thunderstone is great but Pandora needs to play some of their other songs, not just Mirror Never Lies. |

I agree with you, cadaver. Our music sucks, especially compared to Europe's. Don't even get me started on reality tv. I'll just leave it at this: it needs TO F*CKING DIE!!!

Decent, killer leads on guitar and keyboard though... And yes, America sucks at making metal in general. We'd rather watch loads of reality television and make substanceles s music.

I think these guys sound more like stratovarius and sonata arctica than any of those on the list. I dont see how pandora thinks they sound anything like primal fear.

@josh daley: Yeah, they do it better than dragonforce though. They only put EXTREMELY fast solos and stuff when the song calls for a solo. And their singer is better, imo.

These bands from overseas are rocking full speed ahead. High voltage riffs and remarkable rithms.A+ on my list.

If you like these guys(who are very good,by the way), check out Symphony X. Yeah, these guys are pretty good. Not my Favorite, but worth adding to the collection.

why do people like DragonForce so much? sure fast guitars but the real reason is because of guitar hero. THERE NOT THAT GREAT!!!!

Geez, give them another five years, Tyler! They'll measure up! They have potential!!! ! I confess a weakness for DragonForce, and Edguy, not to mention H.I.M., Poisonblack, and a slew of other Finnish bands! They can really crank it out!! Besides, they're pretty awesome already!

ok, but in a land where dragonforce and edguy and angra run mainstream, its pretty hard to meet the new standard
