TobyMac
Biography
Toby McKeehan, or tobyMac, as he is professionally known, grew up in northern Virginia suburbs in the shadow of Washington, D.C., where he fell in love with rap and hip hop. While attending Liberty University at Lynchburg, VA, in the mid 1980s, he met Michael Tait and Kevin Max Smith (aka/ Kevin Max), and the three friends formed the highly influential Christian pop group dc talk, which mixed elements of gospel, grunge and hip hop into an immensely successful hybrid. When dc talk ended in 1999, Mac went solo, releasing the well-received Momentum in 2001. A mixture of urban rock and hip hop, Momentum garnered five Dove Awards and a Grammy nomination, and spawned the remix album, Re: Mix Momentum, which saw light in 2003. Following pretty much the same formula, and even adding in a little dancehall reggae, McKeehan released Welcome to Diverse City in 2004. The formula worked again: the album landed Tobymac a Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year. Welcome to the Diverse City received its own album-length remix in August 2005 with the release of Renovating->Diverse City. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide

TobyMac is very cool. He has such a gift from God, and I'm glad he uses it to follow Jesus Christ in the music he plays. He's awesome!

dc Talk was always one of my favorites. I sure miss those 3 guys collaboratin g together, but glad Toby Mac is still doin' his thing. And now we have Michael singing for Newsboys! I loved Tait's band too...they had some awesome tunes! Maybe we'll get a dc Talk reunion tour someday??? I experienced my first (and only) mosh pit seing them at a Billy Graham crusade!

I never thought I'd enjoy hip-hop/rap, but this is now one of my rare 'exceptions' to pop culture, TobyMac being Christian and all!

toby mac is the best in the world!!!!!!l o l : ) t h e next cd is coming out early next year.

Toby's new song "City on Our Knees" is a refreshing progression from his regular sound...kudo s to something new.

I think out of all three of the Artists that formed DC Talk, Toby Mac was the real talent. Tait went somewhere but didn't get far, Kevin Max made one album and then fell off of the ship, the only one still around after ten years is Toby Mac, and even better, he is still doing albums, not to mention he is the owner of Goatee records which has signed some major artists.

Great music, but hear the message! Saw dctalk years ago, toby's faith is real.

I only owned one of DC Talk cd's, Jesus Freak and they were awesome to bad they are not together anymore. But Toby is doing an awesome job on his own, Made to Love is such a dance song, I hear it and my feet start moving!!!
