Tommy Emmanuel
Biography
Tommy Emmanuel, four-time winner of Australia's Best Guitarist award, has helped bring the art of rock guitar down under to a higher awareness over his two-decade-long career by bringing a sense of jazz improvisation into a mix that also includes blues, country, rock, classical, and Spanish music. After years as a popular sideman and ace songwriter, the two-time ARIA (Aussie Grammys equivalent) award winner launched his solo career in 1988 with Up from Down Under. Several releases have followed, most notably his critically acclaimed 1993 release The Journey, which hit high on Gavin and Radio & Records NAC airplay charts. He has shown a mastery and affinity for both electric and acoustic axes and has been singled out by the likes of notable musicians such as Chet Atkins, with whom he recorded The Day Finger Pickers Took Over the World in 1997, and Todd Rundgren as being an innovator on the instrument. Only appeared in 2001, followed by 2002's Endless Road (it was finally released in the U.S. three years later), 2005's Live One, and 2006's Happy Hour (with Jim Nichols) and Mystery. ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music Guide

I think you need to update his biography and picture, voted (Gold Seal Award)best acoustic guitarist in his genre 2008. Artists, particularly Joe Satriani says of Tommy, "He's the best guitarist that he has ever heard".

Tommy is up there with the best of the best in acoustic guitar playing. I thourghly enjoy watching him, and listening to him work that stringed instrument like it was just an extention of his arms, and fingers, in other words He becomes one with the guitar when He plays!

You've got it snkmp. Missed him this year though. He's always worth seeing live, even if you have to drive. A true master. No fingers move faster.... (ok sorry).

I just heard about Tommy Emmanuel through The Bob and Tom Show. Very refreshing to hear a man speak about his passion without giving up his soul. I am looking forward to many years of listening to this grounded artist.

I recently saw Tommy for the first time live, after seeing him on PBS. Astounding ... magical ... A superb entertainer. Although he has insanely fast hands, it never comes across as "Look at what I can do", unless he pokes fun at himself. All in all a varied and tremendous talent!

He almost always shows up at the Winfield Bluegrass festival, and we are glad he does! Incredible talent and mastery of the instrument. I'm glad he had a chance to play with Chet (Atkins). Hope to see him again soon!!! (that will be #5 or 6!)

VERY CLEAN! Emotional and with clarity. I've seen Chet in concert (when he was still with us) after listening to him for four decades, and can understand why he singled out Emmanuel. Listen to 'Nine Pound Hammer', Chet's 'Windy and Warm' or 'Old Fashioned Love Song' and deny he's extraordinar y .

I was mesmerized at his 2 concerts at the Minnesota State Fair. Even got a chance to say "Hi!" and he was friendly, kind and respectful. It shows through on his videos which may still be floating around the internet. Check out his tour dates and get a plane ticket and go see him. I hope to soon.

I saw Tommy in a high school auditorium in Hatteras,NC along with Stephen Bennett. Both are great guitarists, but Tommy blew me away with his percussive style on the acoustic.
