Unearth
Biography
Massachusetts metalcore enthusiasts Unearth formed in 1998 and immediately started rocking, both in around Boston and on the road. They quickly built up a strong following, booking tours with such like-minded acts as the Black Dahlia Murder and Killswitch Engage and supporting big names like Lamb of God and Slipknot. After issuing Above the Fall of Man (Endless Flight) in 1999 Unearth jumped to Eulogy for two albums, 2001's Stings of Conscience and Endless the following year. Their biggest exposure came in 2004 with the furious Metal Blade release Oncoming Storm. The album was a critical and fan favorite, and Unearth supported it with a slot on summer 2004's Sounds of the Underground Tour, which featured such tastemaking metal and post-hardcore acts as Lamb of God, Poison the Well, and Clutch. Unearth's lineup included vocalist Trevor Phipps, guitarists Ken Susi and Buz McGrath, bassist John Maggard, and drummer Mike Justian. The band released III: In the Eyes of Fire in August of 2006. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

these guys are just a straight up metal band. one of the best and most fun bands to see live too. my tastes have changed these days towards death metal but they are still good.

wrong page willow. go to the radio rock page. do you even know what the song is about? "... feel the snake bite enter my veins... candles raise my desire... no more meaning to my life... think about it!
I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite enter my veins. Never did I wanna be here again, And I don't remember why I came. Candles raise my desire, Why I'm so far away. No more meaning to my life, No more reason to stay. Freezing, feeling, Breathe in, breathe in... I'm coming back again... I'm not the one who's so far away When I feel the snake bite enter my veins. Never did I wanna be here again, And I don't remember why I came. |

i love this band. theyre great live, and serve brutal pits. i know because i have a good scar from the last one i was in. also wore a black eye for about a week after (come on guys, quit throwin elbows)
You know what would be really good right now? A double cheeseburger . Yeah.

This group is pretty good. They definitely aren't LOG or DD, but they do have some badass breakdowns.
these are the s**t there breakdowns are amazing! i also agree vdecker
This band is pretty good, i heard of them after downloading a track pack from guitar hero 5, because i saw that it contained a song from The Devil Wears Prada. My all time fav. band though is, Attack Attack. I love the Techno/Screm o . (:
Wow - everyone's musical tastes are different... . T h a n k God. If all that was available was "popular" music - how f'd up would that be? While Unearthed may not be the best band in the world - they sould pretty good to me. It is not fair to say that music sucks...unle s s you are referreing to pop, disco, western, rap, hip-hop, easy listening, etc. They actually do suck.
Unearth has been one my favorite bands since 1998 when they started playing shows for pennies. What I mean is 10 bands for 7 dollars. Shadows Fall, Cannae, and Diecast were usually with them. I been a fan of Unearth for years and all the people who are not into them I have to say these guys work hard at what they love and you have to respect that. Vdecker. I agree with you.
Not that great, but not that bad either. Pandora has served up worse on my stations.
how about between the buried and me, protest the hero, glass casket, all shall perish, necrophagist , arsis or abigail williams? they are all way the f**k better than anything you guys have mentioned to me. go see for yourself, i doubt youll be disappointed !
damn you guys are hating on unearth. they are actually way f**kin better than anything ive heard from log or killswitch or amon amarth. they are just straight metal. dont get me wrong, there is way better, but the bands you guys list really suck worse than unearth. saw em live and they are very talented, nasty arpeggios and finger tapping. sometimes boring, but best stage presence ive seen. hittin beer bongs in between solos, i like!!!
then again all those bands i listed arent metalcore, at all. LOG may be the closeset...D e v i l d r i v e r too maybe.
But they all have way more creativity, originality and just a better, fuller, more engaging sound to me. Unearth is the same dam thing over, and over, and over.....sim p l e minded, one dimensional mosh pit music....... . n o t h i n g more. Deal with it. |
if this is "real hardcore" then ive heard it and im yawning..don t get me wrong its metal and Im a metal head to the bone.but metalcore and hardcore is so dam repitive it bores me.Can you sensitive Unearth fans handle someone voicing an OPINION about your belovedly boring band that is different from your own?Dont cry like a bich Yes killswitchjv - I believe Mastodon,LOG . A N D Devildriver and Amon Amarth are miles above this band in creativity and overall sound.Much better.
Unearth kicks a**. i love there breakdowns. intense!! i saw them with lamb or god and all that remains. the best heavy hardcore show ive seen. hey baron you need to listen to some real hardcore you f*g!
KICK-A** metal band! hey von shouse,i agree with u about MASTODON, LOG, but DEVILDRIVER? AMON AMARTH????i dont know where your music taste comes from???your A** mabye????
i say that because theyre boring ashell. I cant see them standing out in anyway like some other more talented, more engaging and inspiring metal bands like Lamb Of God, Devil Driver, Amon Amarth, Mastodon....
And isnt that typical....y o u feel the need to insult my name just because I dont like your precious little rock band. Grow up child. |
The Baron Von Douche-How can you say that Unearth will be gone from memory in 4 years? They've been going strong for like 8 years. The sweep-pickin g is so fuking brutal!!
The difference I've always voiced between hardcore (metalcore, thrashcore, whatever) and death metal is that hardcore sounds like it was made my little boys, and death metal sounds like big, burly men. This is my first time hearing Unearth. Meh. Moving on.
well put mec3 - I bash them but hey, they do know how to rock. Its just the overly repeitive sound.
Mind numbingly repetitive sound this band has just ruins any kind of appreciation I can have. They need more variety, vocally musically... . e t c . . . . |
I, personally, like this band a lot. I only have a few complaints. First, they could use a lot more clean vocals, and a greater melodic focus. Secondly, and more importantly, they could vary their songs quite a bit more. After listening to them enough to find a dozen or so favorite songs, I don't listen to anything else by them.
simple minded mosh pit riffing and screaming.
This band is no good and will be gone from memory in 4 years. Right YOSHI? |
To each his own, I just think this band is about as cookie cutter as it gets. No originality at all.
Easy on the insults there Yoshi, opinions are exactly that, opinions. Respect them. Yeah, "obviously" my musical taste sucks....lol . Nice. |
Hey Baron von douche, devildriver sucks. just like coal chamber did. and obviously so does your musical taste.
UNEARTH IS BOOOOOOOOORI N G .
Predictable, un inspired, lame. DevilDriver Blows these retards out the water. Unearth and Killswitch can slob my nob. |
vdecker, i've seen a bunch of your posts and all you talk about is the human abstract and protest the hero. Shut the f**k up already.
white dave i was at that exact show, with protest the hero, white chapel, gwen stacy, acacia strain, and of course, unearth. i was there for protest, but unearth was def the second best. My fav show to date as well, but protest and the human abstract and as i lay dying will be in grand junction on jan 24. thatll be my fav, as the abstract and protest are my fav bands.
this band is awesome I started listening to them after I heard The Chosen which was on ATHF colon movie for theaters album
Pandora needs to put the new Cd THE MARCH up, it is so awesome. Go and get it!
My favorite metal band for sure. Saw 'em live in October when they came to Denver, best show I've been to in my life!
