Biography
Another in the line of '90s goths who forsook guitars for the sampler and synthesizer, Rudy Ratzinger's :wumpscut: project was born in 1991 when Ratzinger released his first cassette-only albums, Defcon and Small Chambermusicians. Vuz Records signed the German to their fold by the following year, and after a release on a 1993 Vuz compilation (New Forms of Entertainment), the first :wumpscut: album, Music for a Slaughtering Tribe, appeared in December 1993. After the release of the Dried Blood EP on Ant-Zen Records in 1994, Ratzinger formed his own Beton Kopf Media label by 1995 and released both another EP and a full-length that year (Gomorrha and Bunkertor 7, respectively). After the appearance of :wumpscut: on the US compilation The Remix Wars -- alongside Haujobb -- the Metropolis label signed Ratzinger to an American deal and re-released the entirety of his work, followed by the new full-length Embryodead. Born Again followed in 1998, and two years later :wumpscut: returned with Bloodchild. The aggro-industrial tinged Wreath of Barbs illustrated Ratzinger's fondness for dance music's past and present when it was issued in fall 2001. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

So many great songs. So brilliant, yet under-apprec i a t e d . Oh well, people don't know what they're missing out on :)

Yeah, this band has such a mellow, yet dark edge to them that makes them so amazing and unique. Most industrial is less trancy than this. This is great stuff for a gothic rave with skulls, black candles and just darkness rather than all those goddamn lights.

Wreath of Barbs is their best song. You can just lose yourself in it's synth textures and just become lost in a state of trance you never want to leave. It's like shrooms but not, it's just the power of the music that enfolds you in it's wings and carries yourself thru your mind. It is one of the greatest songs of all time.

Wumpscut is the s**t. A great reprive from all the hardcore industrial stuff. It's good for after a really wild rave, or a really crazy metal show.

I very much enjoy this band. It gives me vibes that I didn't think that other bands could give me I even got my dad liking it lol

I'm so happy wumpscut is still kicking out records. It does the heart good to know a band you grew up with is still alive and making your foot tap.

I think Wumpscut would do better if he slowed down and combined the best tracks of every other album into one. Not as many releases but they'd be fantastic. As it is each disc has some really great songs - and then some really generic yawny songs as well. Makes it hard to buy sometimes. But I ultimately do cause it's Wumpscut :)

Don't give yourself a brain aneurism. Settle a little lest your heart go xplode. Wumpscut Is awesome among many other Musicians. Check out Fiction 8 if you haven't heard of them.

they are like a hardcore version of Rammstein.I can't explain it exsactly since it is inspired in another country, but I deffinitly have respect for them. 2 boobs up!

these german and dutch industrial bands are like candy-really great at first but not might be good for you-like trance-not a lot of meat on the bones-but god module,wumps c u t , g r e n d e l and unter null sound so good LOUD !! like narcotica... . . . m y favorite cd by thes knuckle heads is evoke but wreath of barbs is cool-great great great art too......... . . . . . . . .

It seems I can only get Pandora to play about 10 industrial bands. This is one of the better ones. I wish they had some more noise industrial bands though (like Mental Destruction) .

I must say Rudy's music doesn't hit the target every time lately (but) he will always be a heavyweight in the EBM/Industri a l world. he's no amateur ! horns up ~ hail darkness triumph !
