Gary Jules still presents the most affectively stirring version of this song. Jules' version is impactful, literally taking one's breathe away. His voice is more passionate, and musical arrangement more haunting.

I like her version better than the original, but it's still no where close to the feeling and atmosphere of the Gary Jules version.

Hey - what about the Tears for Fears edition? I am not sure butit was definetely my impresson the group's 1982/83 album, The Hurting was the first recording of this song.

Nowhere near as good as Adam Lambert's version on American Idol a few weeks back. Worth looking for on the internet. I didn't even remember the Jules version from Donnie Darko. Lambert's version makes you feel/think, the original Tears for Fears version was too pop at the time.

I downloaded Alex's version. The Jules version is intense and I like it alot. But its too depressing for me.

I don't think I have heard the original or maybe I have and can't recollect. I really like Alex's version. I usually stop doing whatever I'm doing and just sit back and reflect.

Sorry folks, but Alex reaches deep on this one. All respect to the songs origin's, but she's made this her own here. This version is so deeply moving and demanding of the hearts attention, I give her mad props for this.

I love Tears for Fears but theirs is my least favorite version of this song. I like the Gary Jules version. Never heard Evergreen Terrace.

I'm going to agree on the Gary Jules thing, though I like how atmospheric this version is, and her vocals are pretty amazing as well. I just prefer the minimalism of the other cover. :)
