Without question, Scott Hamilton is one of the best tenormen today; however, the charm of this tune, "Stars Fell on Alabama," is that it is a radical departure from the verve and drive usually associated with Cannonball Adderley, who is by the way, one of the premier ALTO players of all time. On this track, Adderley displays the usual inventivenes s of his bop-oriented style while caressing a "down-homey" standard that begs for sentimentali t y .
