In regards to Wingracr16's comment: Why does every one think other people do Dylan songs better than Bob Dylan? I would argue that most Bob Dylan covers are more the second idea than the first. Mainly because no one ca do what Bob Dylan does and sound good. Even Bob Dylan sometimes.
I like this version of Across the Universe. But I find it slightly annoying when an artist names an album after a cover. That's just me though. |

This is not only my favorite Beatles song but my favorite John Lennon song, and I resisted the idea of someone covering it at first, even Fiona Apple. But I love this version. She gave her own interpretati o n of it, and I don't think it's lazy. It's peaceful.

When covering a song, an artist has a choice to make.
1. Do the song better than the original. For example: all the #1 hits various artists have had covering Dylan songs. 2. Give the song a completely new spin and make it your own. For example: Chris Cornell's cover of Michael Jackson's Billy Jean. Unfortunatel y , Fiona didn't quite accomplish either goal with this. While it is not terrible, it's not what I expect from a great artist like Fiona Apple. |

I don't know the singer at all, but this is faraway enough from the original that it can stand alone quite well, though NO ONE can beat John at his own thang. :)

Not bad, but definitely not better than the original. I absolutely love Fiona but in this song she just sounds lazy. For her it sounds somewhat monotone and unenthused - lacking passion. She fell flat. I just think she could have done something more with it. When you're covering a Beatles song you better put your all into it. Still it's pretty - I just expected something more from her.

How can you not like this version? I prefer The Beatles' original of course, but this is a fantastic cover. You don't have to pretend to dislike a song JUST because it's a cover.

Miss: I have to agree with sexier mood of the music. I dont tend to like remakes but i have noticed that most Beatles remakes come out good. I think it says a lot about how universal Beatles music is.

Her voice almost reminds me of Norah Jones. Combined with John Lennons lyrics, this is a total success.

I was driving in my car on the way home from work... this song came on... and then and there I realized.. "nothings gonna change my world" its food for thought. its beautiful.
