Personally, I love this song. The violin parts are really pretty (speaking as a violinist myself) and the lyrics are fine. Stuff is only cheesy and patronizing if overplayed. Now that this song has been put to rest by the radio, I enjoy it more. Love it!

to conclude, i would like commiserate with those of us who actually HAVE graduated to the tune of this song, in that for graduations it's a horrendously overplayed song. Shadow of the Day by Linkin Park would make a slightly better choice, imo, though of course i leave this up entirely to popular opinion.

once Green Day hit the bigtime, they thought to revisit and play a show for one of these clubs that they had essentially put on the map. the greeting they got, apparantly, was fairly violent and demeaning, including much spitting, kicking, heckling, etc. eventually, they were more or less run out of the joint. Promptly after this episode, Green Day wrote a big fat ..I.. >.< ..I..

as i understand it, Green day got their start in a musical culture that fairly violently eschewed what could even remotely be considered 'Mainstream' . they frequented several clubs that, of course, catered to these punkrockers. (continued) |
