This is one of my favorite songs from that era. I remember so much that happened from that time musically and this personified the direction rock was to take.

10th grade, 1968, i won this album at a school dance. I had a choice between an album with some black guy with a huge afro and this psychadelic album. I was a naive white kid. The big afro scared me. I took In-a-gadda-d a - v i d a home. It was great! Only years later did I realize the Hendrix album would've been just as awesome.

An incredible composition. A 17-minute song when everything else on the radio was 2 1/2 minutes. Limited only by the technology of the time, when you could only squeeze a maximum of about 19 minutes on one side of an album. You think if they had CD technology back then, it would have been a 70-minute song? (Could it have rivaled Beethoven's 9th symphony ?!?)
