In heaven, there is no religion, only God. That said, it's possible to be a Christian or whatever and still enjoy this song. Certainly hasn't stopped me.

You guys (most of you - not all) are completely missing the point of the song. He's just asking that we try and imagine what the world would be like. We all know it's not going to happen. World peace is a great thing to try and imagine, and he knew that it isn't actually possible. Stop being so critical and shallow.

This song is about the perfect world, a UTOPIA. It really has nothing to do with "so-called" Christianity ! If we lived in a world where everyone treated everyone in such a way that they would want to be treated. It would be a much better place. I could ramble about this for hours.

Christianity isn't about people judging people. It's based off the premise that we're all flawed. The difference between a christian and a non christian is that christian's have Jesus to intercede and take the blame for our sins. So basically, a Christian is no better than anyone else in the eyes of a person, but in the eyes of God, they are pure. And only God's perception really matters. Having said that, I think this song is unrealistic; as communism, and free market anarchism are unrealistic.

This is one of the saddest songs ever. It made me sad the first time I heard it: it still does.
No heaven? The only thing he offers is this life and then you die? To spend 70-80 years here, a lot of them in pain and then to believe that's it??? I like to think that my life is more than just another animal's (or even a mushroom's!! ! ) . Thanks be to God for the promise of Life in Jesus Christ and the hope of heaven. And no, I'm not a Bible Thumper, just a grateful Christian. Imagine that :-) |
