A reminder that we are not as great as we may think we are. What does it really matter what we do, for no matter what we do it will eventually end up as dust in the wind. Truly humbling.

It really does make you think. Unless we are to do something remarkable with our lives, we will be lucky if our decendants even know a little bit more about us than our names, and we would be lucky for them to even know that.

I remember a youth minister in an obligatory anti-rock music diatribe asking us if we really thought all we were was dust in the wind. I guess he had forgotten that the apostle James said that our life was a vapor that passed very quickly. Hmm, sounds awfully similar to me.

for some reason this song makes me think about death, i don't know why but it does.

The guitar melody that goes throughout the song was actually a warm up exercise that the guitar player made up for himself. He did not think it was good enough to record but bandmates finally confinced him to make a chorus for the song. The rest is history.
