It's a toss-up for me. I love the original, because it just raises goosebumps all over-- but I'm not a huge Lisa Gerrard fan. I like 'em both.

Personally, I prefer Lisa Gerrard's version, but Kelly has a very nice voice.

It's vocalese, like scatting in Jazz. Lisa Gerrard, who did the original, doesn't often sing in any known languages.

I found the lyrics to the song- the movie version, but it's the same lyrics. I don't mean to sound rude or to beat a dead horse, but it's NOT Gaelic.

I googled and found this: "I actually have the Irish version of this album that I ordered thru Lisa Kelly's website before amazon.com carried it, but it appears to be the same album, just different artwork."..S o maybe she is singing Gaelic after all. Just beautiful!

@bunnieflip: Seeing as it's from Gladiator, a movie about ancient Rome and Spain and Africa, I doubt it's Gaelic.
@flowerpower 3 2 2 0 0 0 : If anything, I think it's Hebrew or some other Afro-Asiatic language; but most likely it's just a construct language. |

its not her fault she can sing a song better than the original artist...

Man you be leaving her alone! What kind of career you got lee burdick?
|
||
Nice, but doesn't she do any songs of her own or only remakes? Definitely not a way I'd want to define my career. "Lisa - The Remaker of Songs"

Isn't it strange that a song titled "Now we are free" has a sad sound to it. It is beautiful though.

The vocals are in an artistic language, so just gibberish.
But they go so beautifully with the music.... |

There is something spiritual about this song... and yet its not ethereal like say a Gregorian chant, there's something physical in it as well. Beautiful.
