i got this album and i like the entire album but this and nothing else matters are the worst on the album.

personally, i like Death Magnetic, then again i loved the black album. true, they will never the same as master of puppets or ride the lightning, but its not as bad as you say.

All the talk of Death Magnetic returning to their roots might be a bit overstated. Those roots are dead. Guys in their 40s simply can't capture the energy of Metallica's first 4 major label releases. The Black Album was watered down and radio friendly. As such, most of it became pretty forgettable. Not that there weren't good songs on it, but...nothin g that compares to their previous work.

To MikeJ. : I will confess I have not given Death Magnetic a listen yet. I have heard a radio release off it which wasnt as bad as I expected. Metallica fueled my drunken exploits in a mid 80's high schol career and after their smartest release (Justice), although not the meanest, the black album felt like I was hearing MTV music. Thank God Pantera stepped in. On your word, I'll try Death Magnetic, dont let me down Mikey.

To jrob: how can you call the black album crap? This album singlehandly turned me into a Metallica fan when I was younger and then I discovered how amazing all of their earlier albums are. I'll give you Load through St.Anger (yuck!) though, but you have to agree that Death Magnetic has a major improvement over those albums and returns to the roots of ...And Justice.
