metallica introduced songs that their core fans might never have been turned onto...i never would have listened to bob seger on my own, but w.i.t.jar-o made me give seger a 2nd look and i gained a new appreciation . so i'd definitely disagree that they f'd up any songs. they improved them, if anything.
