The first time I heard this song it was by Jamie Cullum. I was under the impression that he wrote it, oops! You should check out his version if you like this one, it's more piano and a little jazz. He's British, enough said.

Yes, they are definately different, Muse has prog influences etc. but one can CLEARLY hear alot of Radiohead in Muse as well. Muse grew up listening to Radiohead (not their whole life or anything) and they aren't shy about its influence on them, why should they be? Both are great, doesn't mean they are the same.

Note to rschauland4: "Fake Plastic Trees" is actually on the Clueless soundtrack, not "High and Dry." If you don't like a song don't complain about it in the comments. I don't think Pandora really pays much attention to them. So if they keep on playing a song you can't stand, click on the thumb down icon underneath the album cover. You won't hear the song again.

I'm with you guys. Just because a band writes a song that is praised by the public doesn't make it a bad song. Since when is it a punishment to write a song enjoyed by many fans? People just feel insecure because they feel as though that great band they thought only they knew about suddenly has more fans. Shame that Thom feels this way about High and Dry.

I don't have a problem with the song like some the naysayers below, but I do have a problem with the fact that Pandora keeps like 16 versions on rotation. I swear I've said "I'm tired of this song" 4 separate times this week. Who knew it was on the movie "Clueless" anyway?

I am seeing the negative comments on here and I just don't get it.
See it for what it is: a snapshot of where the band was at just after their first album had thrust them into the spotlight. Yeah, it's got some pop chords and an easily accesible chorus, but is that evil in and of itself? I would ask anyone who says yes to that question to give me a detailed analysis of their point. |
