Has it ever been used as a soundtrack for a movie? It sounds so familiar.

I absolutely love this piece of music. I fall in love with it again every single time I listen to it. I am a ballet dancer and every time I hear this it makes me want to choreograph something just as beautiful to it. I hope I get the chance someday.

There is an a capella choral arrangement of this piece (originally the second movement of his String Quartet No. 2) that is possibly more powerful than this version. It gets me EVERY time I listen to it.

Love it....
Karl Jenkins with the London Philharmonic Strings did a "revamp" of this song titled "String Quartet no 2" on his "Diamond Music" cd found here: http://www.a m a z o n . c o m / K a r l - J e n k i n s - D i a m o n d - M u s i c / d p / B 0 0 0 0 0 2 9 O P Amazon's section to listen to this cd is out of order and mislabeled. I'm not sure this song is even there. Another song worth mentioning from this album..."Pas s a c a g l i a " . . . . t a l k about a song that makes me cry. (It's a memorial.) |

I immediately recognized this piece once I heard it but didn't know the title. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra played this impromptu to honor the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster Feb. 1, 2003. Very fitting.

This may be my favorite classical music song. I can listen to this over and over again. Such a quiet piece, but it creates such tension and emotional stir.

This is absolutely beautiful. I did hear it in Platoon, but I also heard it much more clearly in the TV version of the book "And the Band Played On" (1993). Ironically enough, according to IMDB, the TV movie was released 9/11/1993. Here's a link to the IMDB page: http://www.i m d b . c o m / t i t l e / t t 0 1 0 6 2 7 3

One of top 5 all-time faves. Took me years to really feel the final resolving chord. Strings need to keep fire extinguisher s handy at the top. Listen, weep, this takes you where you need to go.

Beautiful song, I remember listening to this while watching a documentary on World Trade Center. Very sad.

What emotion... Tears just burst from my eyes and flowed freely down my cheeks as the strings carried me to a memory I can't recall and yet has stayed with me through the times.

I agree with all of you.....LOVE THIS PIECE!! Every time I hear it, I think of "Meet Joe Black." Was it in that movie?

What movie has this song been played in? Does anyone have a clue? I just can't remember.

Ever play the game HomeWorld? ...played it years ago...just found this song...it's used in the game soundtrack and I've wondered about it for a long time. Simply amazing music. The remorse is tangible.

Sublime, to write music such as this. I believe it was used in " Death in Venice" first, a perfect choice based on the novel. Hard to believe this was written; it seems like has always been here, doesn't it?
