One of the best-selling instrumentalists of the late '80s to mid-'90s, Najee has been a consistent favorite in the quiet storm and so-called "smooth jazz" markets. Often compared to Kenny G, George Howard, and Dave Koz, the New Yorker has been greatly influenced by Grover Washington Jr. -- although he hasn't been nearly as adventurous. Heavily produced and quite formulaic, Najee's albums have tended to avoid improvisation and strive for commercial radio airplay above all else. Debuting in 1987 with Najee's Theme, Najee was an immediate hit in the new adult contemporary (NAC) market. Similar pop/urban jazz dates like 1988's Day by Day and 1990's Tokyo Blue did nothing to jeopardize his niche on smooth jazz radio. Onstage, Najee takes some risks and stretches out more. Morning Tenderness was released in 1998, followed by Love Songs (2000), Embrace (2003), My Point of View (2005), True Spirit (with John Grant, Victor Williams, and Dennis Chambers in 2006), Rising Sun (2007), and Mind Over Matter (2009). In 2012, Najee released his 14th studio album, The Smooth Side of Soul, featuring the track "First Kiss," a collaboration with R&B vocalist Phil Perry. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi
Peruvian Sunset by Nadjee is absolutely one of my most favorite jams. I've been listening to Nadjee for years, seems like he just keeps getting better.
Another of Boston's finest! Nice guy, knew him when he attended Berklee and lived in JP. His brother Fareed is fabulous too...always wishing them the very best!
You have to hear the version that appears on Stevie Wonders album with Stevie singing and playing piano along with the Najee's instrumental. It actually sounds better which I know that is hard to believe because this does sound sooo good.
Timeless music... has been, at least 14 yrs, since I had choice availability to Najee's music. By memory alone...I had missed Najee. Thanks to Pandora for your humanitarian origins... otherwise, the miracle of listening or remembering his music would not have happened for me!!!
Uses his horns like a sumarai sword. Cuts deep into my core feelings. He has been my therapist for a long time. I practically healed. Recommend Najee for every thing that ails you.
I've been a lover of Najee for many years.I was introduced to Najee by George Fuller in the 80's, a midnight to six DJ at a local R/B station who later taught me much about nightclub DJ work. Thanks for both Mr.Fuller wherever you are !
Najee is a great saxoponist. I had the opportunity to hear him live in Las Vegas last year. Very good show, and he walked out in the audience jamin and got in your face with the horn... definitely worth seeing live!

Najee is one of my favorite artist, I had the pleasure of meeting him and taking a picture with him in Philadelphia , PA a few years back. He took the time to stop and chat with me on his way out from a concert!!
I have seen Najee teice once at Mohegan Sun casino and the Capital Jazz fest and both times he was amazing, he is a great artist that gives you his all and leaves you wanting more.

I had listened to him in 1987 and was smitten. He can do no wrong. You have an old fan and a new disciple.
When it's one of those evenings to kick back and have a glass of Moscato D'Asti, I have to have a taste of Najee to go along with it, a touch of Norman, and a hint of Wes, fire place in full blast. This is my example of a perfect evening.

Najee, althought not Grover, has captured a place in everyone's heart with this smooth as silk sound. If you need to relax and just take it all in, listen to this gentleman play his horn to perfection. Nice to listen and stretch out with the love ones.

I also like the work that he's done with Freddie Jackson. His cut Broken Promises from Tokyo Blue should've been released. I don't think the A&R people at these record labels know what they're doing. :(
Saw him live in Boston a few months ago. His lead guitarist is outstanding. This guy rocked the place. He can sing and handle the strings. He sung a John Lennon song which I hope Najee features on his next work. Awesome ...and my homeboy
