It is taking longer than expected to fetch the next song to play.
The music should be playing soon.

Young is the real deal. I've said it before, songs should get an award for being timeless. This song would for sure be on that list. CSandN and Y not only captured a very sad time in history, but they also added great music to catch the moment. Wow what happened to music like this!!!!!!
Still brings tears to my eyes ... F**kin bastards , they were just trying to voice there opinion and and they got killed for it . Public opinion polls clearly showed the students were blaimed by the public even though none of them had guns
To everyone who was't there - this was supposed to be a call to actual revolution, and at the time everybody was ready for it. Four dead in Ohio - how many more meant - how many more will step forward and be next. Seriously - I was there.

I love it when singers sing about what they believe and to take a stand against atrocities in this cruel world. We've had many mass shootings this year and I haven't heard any songs like this. Modern singers just don't care.

If this happened today, would anyone write a song? = previous comment IF THIS HAPPENED TODAY - EVEN WORSE...innocents killed frequently...who writes anything besides CNBC? Sad
Never forget that our government kills its people too. Fight the power. Bravo to Mr Young. Take to the streets when the government threatens you too you mindless sheeple.
To Thomas Barley, Sorry I didnt make myself clear.. I am referring to current music has no meaning at all compared to the music of the 60's and 70's . This is one of my favorite songs..
You should be thinking about what it felt like to be a high school kid hearing that 4 students were killed by the Ohio National Guard. It honestly felt like the revolution was near. Now they say that Nixon couldn't be elected today because he was too LIBERAL.
You guys are splitting hairs over whether it's Neil or CSNY. It's obviously Neil's song.

Several of the people shot were not protesting at all but were just bystanders.

It was originally a CSNY single, backed with "Find the Cost of Freedom", and was later included on "So Far" which was a greatest hits collection. There are several live versions out there, too. A rarely heard live cut is on the soundtrack of Neil Young's film "Journey through the Past" (if you can find it), in which CSNY segways from "Find the Cost of Freedom" into "Ohio".
There are people writing songs like this - they just don't get airtime like they used to back then. Now it's who can use the synth voice the best and dress the most retarded.
If this happened today, would anyone write a song?

The Peace Sign is now in fashion. The younger generation will never understand where it came from or its true meaning. I am a VietNam vet and believe it took as much courage to speak out against the war as it did to have to fight in it.
Yeah, I remember this. I was in college when Kent State went down. Things haven't changed much although it's a new generation that's fighting the old men's wars. Iraq and Afghanistan are just as stupid and short-sighted as Viet Nam was; and just as tragic. Eisenhower warned against the military-industrial complex. He was right. Too bad we have yet to learn the lesson!

Yeah the dudes gettin s**t thrown at them from the protesters were probably just as scared as the protesters, plus they were supposed to have rubber bullets.

To Otis Driftwood: Protesters back then were called un-American, too. I don't know how old you are (I was 13 when it happened), but look up some of Vice Pres. Spiro Agnew's inflammatory quotes, for example.

This is one of the most recognizable guitar riffs in rock music. Its simplicity, yet substantial emotional impact are hard to find in rock music produced later.

One of many events that probably kept me from being sent to Vietnam... I registered for the draft in 1973. Not a lot has changed, apparently, but at least now we pursue our global "adventurism" with volunteers... and a mission plan.
The kids on the campus weren't completely inocent. They burnt down the ROTC building to protest against the government presence in some country in Asia. The kids were also rioting. The governor then asked for the national guard like he always did. The National Guard were getting junk thrown at them. One guard said a student threw a chunk of concrete at him. The Guard felt threatened and opened fire. I do agree though it was senseless, they're just kids.

Seldom is a word written about the frightened teenagers thrown into a cataclysmic situation with green commanders just as frightened by the enclosing mob. Guess that would be liberal thinking. Too many young ones wrongly influenced on both sides.
My teacher played this song in seventh or eighth grade and it blew me away and I needed more music from this guy and have been a neil young fan ever since that day.
I remember the day May 5th 1970. The students shot were not the protesters. They were kids on their way to class. Two were killed running from the gunfire. The girl in the newspaper photo was not a student; she was just someone passing by the campus on her way to San Francisco. Neil Young got it right, senseless murder (that is what it was) and a government that didn't know what to do about the new way of thinking. Sad.
When did Boomers stop protesting wars? What happened to our ideals? Were most of us just worried about our own a## getting shot off in Vietnam? Too bad, we had such great potential. Now we are just "Piggies eating their bacon"
great song, I have alot of respect for the point they are trying to make here more artists today should take a chapter from Youngs book. Music should be used in this way, its a non violent way to get the message across and lets face it who doesnt listen to music its a way to reach many many listeners. It has real meaning you dont see this quality of music anymore. Its now about the money and fame theres not allot of passion left in the industry.
