I have seen New Monsoon play live in various settings throughout their playing careers. They are one of the best, and I use this term loosely, Jam Bands I have ever heard live. I say loosely because these guys are doing their own thing. Blending rock, country, reggae, jazz and on and on in to the a sound like no other, the sound of the Monsoon. Comparisons to ABB are a little misleading but probably stem from Jeff Miller's gear (guitars w/humbuckers) and melodic style (hence the comparisons to Dickey Betts). Don't overlook Bo Carpenter (acoustic guitar/banjo/vocals) or Phil Ferlino's amazing keys. Their musicality is surprising for a "jam" band. Their live shows never lose integrity and devolve into monotonous guitar solo showoffs. I highly advise getting off your a** to go see them; it's worth whatever drive you have to make; but

Very like the Allman Brothers, if every song they played was Jessica. The guitarist is indeed very good, and is skilled and mellow without being too slow. Tasteful. I wish I could get my hands on one of their actual albums.

I think these guys are awesome. I just love the guitarist tone. It's sound like a fat Dickey Betts. It's sweet.
