I disagree..no one knows what could have happened after a tragic event like the one that they all went thru. Be content that even though some or even all could have just packed it in and gone separate ways, they decided to continue as a new band. You really cant say that they have dissapointed . Experimentin g with a number of formats including dance was genius! They were able to exist in both worlds of dance/electr o n i c a & post punk and alternative.
I want it to feel like it did at the start
... Tribal BEAT not best?
No Joy Division R Musically much better. There Distinct Heavy Bass Lines blend well with a post punk / Tribal Best with Ian Curtis up front sporting that Funky dance! Class
Ok, this is what happens when the most awsome lead singer hangs himself. You make the next best band in the world. It is the new order.
I hope we all agree that this song is AWESOME!!
@Alethea: never heard that idea before, about JD being dispair, and NO being grief. I think it's true. Sure, not every song by either band fits into that, but generally, I think you're onto something. Did you make that up yourself?
Peter: because Joy Division's singer and founder, Ian Curtis, hanged himself. Why the remaining members chose a different musical direction I'm not sure, but I've always thought of JD being the music of despair while NO is the music of grief.
Peter/SanDie g o wonders . o O O {Why did part of Joy Division break away to form New Order, and go the "excessively drum-machine y " route?? Amazing that the Cure as do several 80s'ish new-wave bands cite Joy Division as an influence!!) Comment me if you agree or have an answer :)
Similar bass intro to the classic Joy Division song, "24 Hours" minus the sustained menace and resignation. Worthy nod to their roots.
