Not sure why Otis Redding bothered covering "My Girl." Not that his version isn't great, but it's essentially a carbon copy of the Temptations magnificent original, and Otis' voice isn't dissimilar enough from David Ruffin's to make this version very groundbreaking.
OLD? Otis died many hears ago. He was a star in the Soul music world. He was breaking out into rock music fans in the mid sixties. He sang at the Monterey Pop festival in 1967. This song sounds really old, like it was recorded generations ago. The instruments sound very 'tinny' and 'backgroundy'. His voice too, sounds a little raspy, not crisp, like it was recorded in someone's basement.
