Pablo Cruise

Pablo Cruise achieved some measure of success during the latter part of the '70s with their mellow, easygoing California pop. The band was formed in 1973 by former members of Stoneground and It's a Beautiful Day: guitarist Dave Jenkins, keyboardist Cory Lerios, bassist Bud Cockrell, and drummer Steve Price. The group was praised for its compositional and instrumental skill on the albums Pablo Cruise and Lifeline, and was rewarded with the Top Ten hit "Whatcha Gonna Do?" in 1977 from A Place in the Sun. Cockrell left and was replaced by former Santana bassist Bruce Day. Worlds Away went platinum, as did its predecessor, and produced three hit singles, including the Top Ten "Love Will Find a Way." By the time the '80s rolled around, the new wave movement was in full swing on the pop charts, and the group fell out of favor with the record-buying public. Several Pablo Cruise songs were used as soundtrack material for sports programs on ABC, CBS, and NBC, and the band's work also appeared in the films Free Ride, An Unmarried Woman, and Dreamer. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi

Sheryl Pittard , sounds like a triple bill at your nearest tribal casino!
So fresh to hear these again after hearing them in real time of the 70's
Places and persons flooding back into thoughts. Good to listen to during the mundane moving and packing going on now.
garydbhp8--i f you saw Pablo, and Boz Skaggs w/ Doobie Bros alll at the same time the tickets would probably cost 1 million $ each! (I love em all, too) Oh, to be a millionaire

Going to BH Cohn music festival in Sonoma Ca. on 9/21/13 to watch these guys live, they also have Heart and the Doobie Brothers. Great wine and music!!
My dad is Dave Jenkins, he's a goof and a great father; musics passion driven and full of love, married to an amazing writer and artist Jaime Kyle who's equally worth checking out, they're truly the most influential people in my life, much love hope we get to 500 likes soon just one a way as of now and go fans that's the coolest thing, I literally can't wait to show him just how kick a** he is in the eyes of like minded people who enjoy good music

Great vocals, great message in the lyrics and great harmonies! Brings back memories of college at Albany State many moons ago!

i remember the album hanging on the wall on mork and mindy at the record store. odd the memories music can trigger
I have 3 older brothers that were in their mid to late teens in the seventies and I was probably 9 or 10 ( IDK ) and remember this album and instantly fell in love with it. After all these years ( Im now 46 ) this album still brings me back to the younger years. I love it

reminds me of smoke in pot in high school ....
Great, great song! The intense meaning of the lyrics, the great vocals, harmonies, instrumental arrangement - I love it still.
Saw them at emmons auditorium . Ball State U. in early 80s . Great stuff.
I met Dave Jenkins in the Lobby of the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo in 1979. I was the only other foreigner there. He was asking me about what it was like living in Japan. I commented that albums were super expensive there. The next day there were four Pablo Cruise albums in my room. And these were the super quality Japanese pressings. I still have them. Thanks, Dave.
I saw them in the 70's outdoors in the Minnesota summer. Ahh the smell of those concerts. . . ha ha. My dad said I hear there was a lot of smoking going on. . . I didn't have to tell him how right he was. They were great on stage and on my radio!
I have thes on vinyl and i LOVED them. Such fun music! Glad to read they are still playing!

Saw them last night (2-25-12) in a small hall (250 seats). My goodness, at age 68 this could have been my last concert. If so, I had a great time. The band was amazing. Alot of talent on stage. A 2 hour show went very quickly. Sounded great and the setting was perfect.
Oh the days back in then. I inked a poster for them when they played at Bozo's Bus Stop Bar, outside of Travis Air Force Base, waaaay back in the mid 70's. Small little place but Pablo Cruise rocked it off its foundation. Great band ... yeah!
Great band! Met them in 75 at a place called Mountain Charlies in Los Gatos,CA. They also played at the Cow Palace in San Fran with Doobie Bros. Bud Cockrel was a hell of a singer and bass player. Nice to have a Pablo Cruise station on Pandora!
I just met Dave Jenkins at a party....... . . . . . . . . . . . . . what a nice guy and he sure can play a mean guitar. Keep rocking Dave
I have great memories as a kid in the mid to late 70's with hits created by Pablo Cruise. Hanging around at the swim club with childhood friends..It seemed to be a much simpler time and life! How quickly our youth and care free days leave us. Dial in to the past and Rock on!
beautiful production, thanks Pandora, no static at all
Pablo ROCKS like I remember!
Just LOVE the PC sound! A cool mix between easy listening and that unique 70's beginning disco music!

I second the praise of Ocean Breeze. The extended piano intro. that morphs into the lyric stuns my memory and makes me want to hear the album again.
jenkins3926
one of my all time favorite groups, Ocean Breeze omg what a song. Island Woman is another thatI crank up the volume to really hear.
I love this music. The music of my youth. Even my daughter thinks 70's music rocks.
I was thinking they would be The Beach Boys of the 80's. It's too bad they didn't hang in there a bit longer.
This was the mellow rock sound of the 7o's...it brings back the time.
jimoakes
The song "Ocean Breeze" on their original album is one of the all time great rock masterpieces . One of my all time favorite songs.
under-rated, no doubt... love the 70's music.
This song is one, when you hear it, you roll the windows down, turn up the radio, loud, and push your foot to the floor.
bfreyes2000
