This is ALL. Joy, heartbreak, remembrance. This is what tear drops sound like. Amen & thank you, Pat.

So NOT new age OR smooth jazz. This is classical music that summons Debussy or Satie. This is the genius of Lyle Mays.

I feel so at peace listening to Pats music. One of Gods gift to us.

You're right, though mainly on a technicality . This album was maybe too experimental for then-PMG, but would fit right in with some of the Group's later work.

this is one of the most beautiful and emotional songs ever done, not sure how the got that emotional feel in a recording studio, this is way better than the live version

howerver this is not PMG this is Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays
Report as inappropriate
blisterfree you are right, Lyle can't be replaced.

Unity Group can eat it. This was music. This was PMG.

Beautiful album and wonderful track dedicated to yet another great master Bill Evans! I also sense a touch of Rodrigo in this piece. Lyle owns the piano solo, so rich and romantic. Would be amazing to listen to while riding a gondola in Venice!! One day for sure....

This just makes you sit back and ponder the wonder of music and life. I listen to Pandora all day in my office and when this comes on I just stop, listen and get lost.

Extraordinar y song. You can hear the depth of feeling from both Metheny and Mays as they pay homage to the mastery of Bill Evans. What a gift!

What are the odds of a person hearing the name of a nice song on the day of the title of the song????

Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays-'As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls' Perhaps the greatest album ever recorded. Every song is as complex as it is moving. I have it in vinyl and it sounds even better under an old record needle. Rent 'Fandango' if you need some good visual context for the album. Enjoy Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson before they grew up.

One of my favorite songs that catches me and takes me away from this world for a few minutes...I always stop what I am doing and close my office door and my eyes and float away...

When I think about the influence Pat Metheny has had on the lives of me and many of my friends over the last two plus decades it is amazing. I've traveled hundreds of miles for his concerts, bought every CD he's put out and some he's on. This CD takes you to a place that became a refuge for me in good times and bad. Whether driving, working, or at rest, the music on this entire CD is a testament to the awesome power music has on the mind in creating calm. No matter how much, or often I listen,

So glad to see so many people who appreciate how amazing this piece is. Back in college (81-85) I would fall asleep at night with this album side on the headphones. Sept 15 would put me into a dream state I can't possibly describe. The opening guitar strumming of "Its For You" would bring me back, then as the song unfolds send me to another place. The entire album is a masterpiece

Sitting in my office in Wichita Kansas on September 15. A long time Pandora listener. Just decided to sign up for Pandora One. Started off with a Pat Metheny Station I happened to be in the mood for. Pretty soon, from a favorite album I bought years ago, "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls", plays "September 15 (Dedicated to Bill Evans )" Serendipity :)

Great comments for an amazing piece of music.
Peter - Correct on all accounts of collecting (and burning)
daystar - I couldn't agree more. I know that feeling.

The many facets of Metheny-Mays music, this stuff channels right into your gut, soul, and pscyhe. No middleman, no by-product. Just tones connecting directly to your essence. Nothing like it.

moody, lovely , a bit cloudy and yes I have seen Lyle Mays perform it.

This song reminds of me of a lazy Satruday afternoon, in the summer. Laid back, cool, glass of vino, and just chillin'. Nothing short of a masterpiece.

if you've ever heard Lyle Mays play this live as I have a couple of times in my life, the song transports you sans teleporter to realms in your own consciousnes s that you never knew existed and from where you pray you never need ever return. If there is a heaven, this is that place of which I write.

umm... AFWSFWF came out in 1980, "Fandango" came out in 1985 and I really don't know what Pat was thinking (or maybe it was out of his hands contractuall y ) to have one of the most beautiful albums ever made used on the sountrack of one of the biggest pieces of shite ever filmed. It breaks my heart.

AFWSFWF was the first CD I ever purchased and no collection is complete without it. All copies of "Fandango" should be rounded up and burned.

A touching song from the motion picture "Fandango" featuring Kevin Costner.
