Hum a melody and get (it) down!
Musicians need participants, buyers of their wares, and dancers to their music, but............
The human voice is the "first instrument".
You are unique and so is your voice!
Take a moment (with your voice) and listen to yourself listen.
Dya get it?
This is a musician!
From there, stick with your voice or pick up a pair of bongos- get aquainted with rhythm ( Music: 1. Rhythm 2. Melody 3. Harmony)
Find another singer and speak to them slowly. Now ask them to speak at you at the same time, in the same pace.
You two should intersect with a harmony!
From speaking comes singing!

And uh... you know what a melody is.

Music is portrayed generally from low tones (bass guitar, tympani, bass drum) to mid (voice, rhythm guitar, piano chords, what have you) to high (lead guitar, high pitched instruments, high ranges on the voice, a whistle (wikipedia "whistle register" for grins and giggles).

These low, mid, highs are an aural (ears) representation of the myriad of complex scenerios people find themselves in everyday life.

Of course we need low- mid- and high representation!
