I thrive on the lo-fi stuff. This may be a reflection of my age (turning 40) or more likely, my love of distorted melodic chords, syncopated rhythm and all those other fancy things that Pandora tells me my favorite music contains. I grew up on a steady diet of classic rock/metal until graduating to the Clash, the Jam, Elvis Costello, Echo and the Bunnymen and the Smiths. Things really turned the corner with Jane's Addiction. Now my tastes run the gambit from singer songwriters like Ron Sexsmith to bands like Built to Spill, the Decemberists, Flaming Lips, Band of Horses. Beck brings the loose funk and Radiohead synthesises everything to taste. Yeah, Radiohead is my main band, that's right.
