My musical tastes have always been highly eclectic, but these days my true loves are traditional jazz and traditional pop. Sinatra is king, period, end of discussion.
Lately, I've discovered lounge/exotica and I've been busy discovering the work of people like Martin Denny and Les Baxter. I like the whole late '50s/early '60s bachelor pad/space age vibe.
In my younger days, I was way into classic rock (high school), and then alternative (college). After college, it was Tori Amos, Bjork and the rest of the tortured female singer/songwriters (Tori is still my fave current artist).
Then around the time he died, I rediscovered Frank--who had felt like part of the family for years anyway, since I grew up in an Italian-American household. I guess you could say my musical tastes grew up. The rest is history, baby.
