I currently coach and consult people on performance enhancement and message delivery. I travel a lot to speak, train, and coach.
Having been a professional recording engineer/producer for 30 years now (in 2009), I have experienced and maintain a deep love and appreciation for music from every origin. Over the years, I have worked with many musicians ranging from huge recognition to relative obscurity.
I find myself, for now at least, gravitating towards music that is more than a simple message or entertaining; creating an experience and/or an environment. Ambient, spiritual, electronica, trance, and trip-hop are perhaps some of the labels that have been put on the music that's most attractive to me right now.
I like to say that I have no musical taste - I love it all.
One is as likely to find me listening to one end of the spectrum as the other. From Beethoven to Brian Eno, Track n Field to Pink Floyd, Train & Barenaked Ladies, to Snatam Kaur & Ravi Shankar... Habib Koite & Alpha YaYa Diallo to Primus, SCOTS, and Tool - I love it all. Even Pop (well, most of the time) and anything in between. I LOVE hearing music that is new to me!
For some time, my nick name among many while on tour (I've done a lot of high-end live recording and house sound as well) was "Noiz" as there would always be someone asking "What IS that noise you're listening to?!" :-) I love introducing others to new musical horizons, such as playing Jean Michele Jarre during setup for an Alternative Rock concert, or David Byrne as pre-show entertainment music at a country music show. :-)
Today, I spend more of my time helping people hone and deliver their message in the most powerful way than pushing faders and twiddling knobs. But I am still known to twiddle on occasion! :-)
