I think its hard to describe music by genre, as genres have subgenres and different people have different opinions on who goes in what genre. I think my favorite musical movement, as opposed to limiting it to genre, is The Blues, from Robert Johnson to Hendrix, Zeppelin, and Cream to The Black Keys and The White Stripes. I also love the music from the late 80's/90's alternative and grunge movement, with artists like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, etc. My number one favorite band of all time is The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and can always find a Chili Peppers album for my mood. I've starting listening to some trip-hop/electronica, where artists like Thievery Corp and Portishead have hooked me with their own twists on blues and jazz.
