I adore smooth jazz, acid jazz, chill, downbeat, latin rhythms, lounge, ambient chill, you name it. Earliest influences: Brian Eno, Steely Dan, Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, Pink Floyd, Quincy Jones, Miles Davis, Mancini's Pink Panther theme (even my parent's easy listening station as a child I now know has a huge influence on what I seek today).
But it really got interesting when I worked for a Smooth Jazz station and discovered Acid Jazz. From there, it was all over with, as far as your typical radio station music genres are concerned. I was fortunate to have my own acid jazz show for two hours on Saturday nights, "New Directions in Jazz", and kept it for 2 years, until they flipped the station to contemp country. That's when I got out of radio. I'm now in my mid 40's and this radio station, Pandora Radio is awesome. I'm also into the Chill/dance station on XM radio, the Cafe Del Mar and Frequent Flyers comp CD's.
