I grew up in many different environments and was blessed to be exposed to many different cultures. I have loved the music created by people of all nationalities and cultures, all my life. Recently, however- perhaps due to a number of heartbreaking and very difficult experiences in life- I am drawn to music of great beauty, and artists that create and perform this type of music. Nothing thrills me more than a magnificent song. Sometimes it may be a simple tune, such as "The River is Wide," and other times- perhaps an aria from a famous opera. And lately- a lot of soul-nurturing music that is performed by what is most commonly referred to as perhaps "New Age" artists. such as: Enya, Constance Demby, Tim Story, Liquid Mind, Deuter, Jim Brickman, David Ackerman, David Lanz, William Ackerman, Jon Schmidt, Kurt Bestor, etc. I have also become quite the fan of Celtic music- particularly that which is performed by artists such as "Celtic Women," Clannad, Loreena McKennitt, Enya, and many others. I am also a big fan of the incredible Steve McDonald, the master of modern Scottish music. I experienced a concert performed by him- and witnessed his inspiring deep love for his country and culture. It stirred my soul, and gave me a great love for Scotland's history, and music. Remember the pulse-quickening soundtrack to the movie classic "Braveheart?" (Through its music, I've grown to love Scotland, in spite of never having traveled there, and my mostly Swedish and English ancestry.) Music can be one of the most beautiful of all mankind's creations, and adds SO much to our lives- whether in times of celebration and joy, romance and passion, or times of heartbreak and grief...when inner healing is needed, and we search to find an inner peace. For me- music is an experience that enhances ALL of life's events and moods. It can affect my health and well-being, as well as make me want to get up and dance my fool head off! What a great blessing music is to me!
