Jazz and big-band have flowed through my veins since I was 11 and for me, it will forever be the music where it all started. However, I mainly work the salsa scene in Los Angeles these days. Playing and creating music is something that I passionately enjoy and I wouldn't be half the man that I am today without it. Music has allowed me to see and enjoy the world from a perspective most aren't privy to. I have been fortunate enough to share the stage with some very talented musicians and music has allowed me to travel to nearly every state in the US as well as much of Canada, and South America.
Back in 2000 I did a couple of tours with that one hit wonder, Lou Bega. Remember that Mambo #5 song you all loved to hate? Yeah that dude... It was fun! We were the opening act for the Cher - Can You Believe tour and played about 20 different states in a little over a month! Plus a few shows in Canada, and a show in Viña Del Mar, Chile. After that tour we did another short tour throughout South America; Buenos Aires-Argentina, Sao Paolo-Brasil, Belem-Brasil, Rio de Janierio-Brasil, Mexico City-Mexico. Probably one of the best periods of self discovery I had up the point of getting married and having a child.
Also did a few runs with Joan Sebastian. It was fun, hectic, confusing (I don't speak fluent spanish), and exciting all at the same time. One day you're in LA, the next you're flying on Joan's private jet to Veracruz, Mexico in the middle of some Palenque/Rodeo. No one tells you what time you leave back to home, what your flight# is, and when you're getting paid. Its insane, before you know it you're back on a plane home, and then some guy slips you a couple hundred bucks. Its for reasons like that I chose to pursue a career in technology and do music on the side. I needed to keep music as a happy thing for me and not as work.
These days you can find me mainly working the salsa scene playing with the group "Son Mayor" (www.sonmayor.com)
