I grew up on my folks' 70's rock albums. According to my mom, my first concert was Mountain, Molly Hatchet, and Jethro Tull (WHOA!) while I was still in utero. Forever cursed and born too late.

My teen years were all about Black Flag, punk and hardcore, old Metallica and the glory years of metal and crossover. Back when you traded TAPES, found out about bands through word of mouth, reading liner notes, what t-shirt was Cliff Burton wearing in this month's issue, how killer the artwork was, if it was on Earache it was kller. Doom, Death, Grind...metal will always be my first love.

In recent years I've gotten really hooked on hits and obscurities of the late 60's/early 70's psych/heavy/proto-metal/doom guitar rock stuff. Those old Pentagram recordings slay me, Truth and Janey, Sir Lord Baltimore, Epitaph, Atomic Rooster, Marmalade, Silberbart, High Tide, Blues Creation...I could go on and on. The 70's is an endless treasure trove of dark delights.

Oh, and Molly Hatchet had more than one song and was a killer band. I will fight you to the death on that one.
