Bio:
I was raised in a small town in the Appalachian mountains on the western side of Virginia. The first music I was exposed to growing up was the gospel that the chior sang at my church. At age eight, I got my first rap cassette, Raising Hell, by Run DMC. From there, I explored the music of The Fat Boys, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Kool Moe Dee, and my favorite, Eric B. and Rakim. I was mainly into rap, hip-hop, and soul singers until I got into middle school. My older sister got Nirvana's Nevermind CD about the same time I got the Best of The Doors two disc set. From there, I have had an ongoing love affair with rock n' roll. In the last five years, I have started concentrating alot on classic country artists, such as Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Patsy Cline. I also have a place in my heart for the brilliant songwriters that are out there. Tom Waits, Ryan Adams, Jeff Tweedy, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty are among my favorites. I also love the blues. Starting with Robert Johnson all the way up to Derek Trucks last effort with his jazz/blues band. I have an open mind about most music, although I am quick to dismiss something that doesn't appeal to me right off. I am studying to be a professional audio engineer at Full Sail in Orlando, FL. Having chosen this type of profession, I will continue to have new music coming into the drums of my ears for a long time. A quick piece of advice directed at preventing hearing loss, don't expose yourself to volumes over 100 decibels for more than 10-15 minutes or you will be suffering from permanent hearing loss. Dance clubs and concerts are a perfect example. Also, cruising down the road with your window rolled down on the driver's side is the number one cause of hearing damage among young people. Keep your ears working good. It's not like they are on sale at Target! Cheers.
