This December 5th is Repeal Day!
Repeal Day is a true American holiday which commemorates the repeal of national Prohibition.
Prohibition lasted 13 years, beginning in 1920 and ending in 1930. It wasn't great.
In fact, mistrust of the government and general misery spread like wildfire during that time. The public was mortified that such a basic right could be yanked away without their consent. To this day, the 18th Amendment which launched the Prohibition era is the only Constitutional Amendment which took away rights rather than ensuring them.
The Repeal of Prohibition was finally ratified by enough states on December 5th, 1933 and a grateful nation rejoiced!
Dewar's Blended Scotch Whisky was among the first brands back in the bars and stores legally that day. To honor this wise and thoughtful move, Dewar's proudly supports the remembrance of Repeal Day and has sponsored some custom Pandora stations to help the celebrations commence.
